We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Emily Cooley and Kaley Eads. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Emily and Kaley below.
Hi Emily and Kaley, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
When the opportunity to open a Sitting Made Simple® location in Raleigh presented itself, we knew it was something we wanted to do, and wanted to do together. As sisters, the chance to work together, to build a business together was an exciting venture we were really thrilled to pursue. We opened up SMS® Raleigh in March of 2019, and throughout the years, the ever-changing world around us and our growing families, we find our purpose in continuing to provide families and organizations in this amazing community with reliable childcare and it’s something we are truly passionate about.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Sitting Made Simple® connects area families vetted sitters. Whether you need a last minute babysitter, help with before and after school care, part-time, full-time, evenings and weekends, we can help. All sitters are interviewed, are CPR certified and are screened (background and drivers record). We focus on recruiting amazing sitters that allow for families to easily book from their online account whether that’s a consistent sitter or a date here or there, while having access to our office team 24/7 for support.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Our business had been operating for one year when Covid began. Thankfully now we can look back and be so grateful for the lessons learned along the way. One of the biggest pieces of advice when it comes to entrepreneurship and life is general, is to be willing to pivot and refocus when challenges occur. Being flexible and staying positive is sometimes the only thing you can control, so having a positive and encouraged mindset can make all the difference. Lastly, staying thankful and appreciative of all the support of those around you can completely change your outlook even when challenges come. It’s important to remind yourself that there is a community cheering you on!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
The Triangle and surrounding area is growing at such a rapid rate. We are always looking for opportunities to connect with other businesses and families needing childcare. We love to share how our service can be a blessing to families and help support them in this season of life.
