Meet Erin Cary

We recently connected with Erin Cary and have shared our conversation below.

: Hi Erin, so excited to have you with us today and we are really interested in hearing your thoughts about how folks can develop their empathy? In our experience, most folks want to be empathic towards others, but in a world where we are often only surrounded by people who are very similar to us, it can sometimes be a challenge to develop empathy for others who might not be as similar to us. Any thoughts or advice?
During my previous career as an engineer, I found myself in a position where I was making a substantial income, yet I couldn’t shake this underlying feeling of uncertainty. The financial advice I received was standard, basic, and lacked any real meaning to me personally. This paradox of having financial abundance but feeling unfulfilled is the very situation many people can find themselves in. There is a certain frustration that arises when having ample resources but lacking fulfillment because you haven’t aligned these resources with your true purpose and values. Recognizing this, we have developed a specialized process to help you regain harmony with your finances. Through our process, we guide you not only in optimizing your financial decisions but also in discovering what is truly important to you.
Empathy, in this context, is not just a professional skill; it’s a deeply personal understanding of your journey towards financial alignment. My past experiences have allowed me to connect with my clients on a profound level, as I’ve navigated the same challenges and feelings of disconnection that you may currently be facing. Ultimately, these conditions have shaped me into a more empathetic and effective financial strategist, driven by a genuine desire to help others find the alignment and fulfillment they seek in their lives.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
While many advisors are primarily interested in selling you insurance or managing your investments, my approach is fundamentally different. I focus on holistically addressing the complexities of your financial situation and what is most important to your family. Our team then crafts a comprehensive, written financial strategy that guides you towards achieving your ideal life. I understand the deep emotional ties associated with money and can provide a safe space to tackle challenging financial decisions or fully embrace financial opportunities.
Through our unique process, clients embark on a transformative journey where you uncover clarity and develop a profound understanding of your financial landscape. This isn’t just about making financial decisions; it’s about making informed decisions that align with your personal values and aspirations and empower you to find true purpose in your financial journey.
In essence, my business isn’t just about managing money; it’s about helping my clients navigate the complexities of their financial lives while striving for a fulfilling and purpose-driven future.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
One of the most impactful qualities I’ve developed is the ability to create tangible goals that align with my core values. It’s been a game-changer because once I understood my goals, I could easily decide on the tools and strategies needed to achieve them. For instance, my goal of retiring early led me to specific investment vehicles and allocations that have put me on a clear path to financial independence. Another skill that has played a pivotal role in my journey is building and leveraging a strong community. Having this network of support has been invaluable. We’re there for each other in various ways, from providing services and encouragement to brainstorming and simply being there to share experiences. This sense of community has not only helped me grow professionally but also personally.
Lastly, trust has been a key component in my journey. I’ve learned to trust the support I receive from professionals who excel in areas where I might not be the strongest. When I hire experts, I trust that they’ll listen and support my business in a way that aligns with my vision. Effective communication has played a pivotal role in establishing this trust, ensuring that we’re always on the same page and working towards common goals.
To those who are starting their journey, I would strongly recommend investing time in understanding your values and setting clear, tangible goals that resonate with those values. It’s like having a compass for your journey. Additionally, don’t underestimate the power of building a supportive community. Seek out like-minded individuals who can provide different perspectives and support you in various ways. Lastly, when it comes to trust, choose your partners and professionals wisely, and cultivate open and effective communication to ensure everyone is aligned.
