We recently connected with Eva Constance and have shared our conversation below.
Eva, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
My whole life I have always been bullied. It was hard for me to make friends and I always felt like I was an outcast. After high school I realized that there is a whole world out there with people who I’ve never talked with. Everything that happened in my younger years was only a small portion of the way the world is and it was not a reflection of the world as a whole. I also had family to help me through these times. They helped me slowly build confidence in believing that I could achieve whatever I put my all into. I still have a hard time making friends because my music is my drive and even though I have interest in other things my main drive is for my music career. Without finding others who carry the same passion, or similar, it’s hard to relate. I am in school full-time to support my goal of being a successful music artist and anything else I would want to pursue like acting. I only have 9 months left and I am very excited to start the next level of my music career.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m Eva Constance and I am an Rnb/Pop artist with no professional management. I am a fully independent artist who resides in South Florida. I am currently in school to be a radiologic technologist to further help funds in pushing my music career to greater heights. I have been singing in the choir since I was about 6 or 7 years old. I started to record professionally in 2019 and released my debut single “Selfish” in late 2020. The video in just a few days received over 20,000 views. I then followed that up with multiple tracks like “Tangler”, “Forget Me” and my newest track “Energy”. I also did a collaboration with a NY artist called Tr3Day! called “You’re Mine”. I’ve only performed outward a handful of times but am looking forward to performing more after I graduate. “Forget Me” replaced my debut single “Selfish” and became my #1 track on Apple Music. I’ve done multiple interviews online, on podcasts, and in virtual interviews about my passions, music, and future plans for myself in music. I feel that what makes me special to the music industry has to be the lyrics and tracks I decide to use as well as my look. I am highly particular in my work and stay true to myself while mixing in what’s hot at the moment. My look is very authentic and exotic as I am mixed with multiple backgrounds. I am American, African American, French, German, Portuguese, Puerto Rican, German, and Polish. I do not fully speak any other language other than English but I can speak some French and Spanish as well as sing in English, Spanish, and French. I am a very humble and quiet person until I am talking about my music. I have a lot of music that I have not released because I either feel it’s not the right time or it’s not the finished product I want to release yet. However, I do plan on releasing my 5th studio track this year, depending on if certain things pan out. The track is called, “Handle It” and I already have plans for the music video including locations, the storyline and outfits.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back I would have to say staying humble, being authentic, and being dedicated to my craft were most impactful in my journey. I’ve juggled so many things at once and it was always hard for me to understand that I had to learn things in order to get better at a certain thing. That meant that I had to do one thing at a time. Even those who are good at something practice, develop, and learn. After graduating high school, in 2018 I started to really develop vocally and learn about music theory. I think this journey alone helped me not only to develop as an artist, but give me more of a technical background in vocal development and music. I did attend The Greater Academy of the Arts in my hometown of Hartford, Connecticut but only attended in my senior year due to the raffle of school choice at the time so I didn’t develop as those who were there all four years. Although I learned and adapted fast, I still had to keep going to succeed in my craft. I would tell anyone wanting to pursue a career in singing to learn and develop as much as you can. Times get hard and sometimes life can throw curveballs to where it might be hard to get help but do not give up because you can only depend on yourself at first and if you don’t no one else will. You need to gain knowledge and believe you can achieve.
What are the current obstacles you are facing now?
The current obstacles I am facing right now would be finding someone who not just believes in my music, but also believes I can make it as an Rnb/Pop artist in mainstream. I have never given up on myself and I do not plan to in the future because I believe I can achieve this. The hard part is getting someone to feel the same as you do and build a team to make it a reality. Even though I do not have this yet and am a fully independent artist, I plan on graduating as a radiologic Technologist in 9 months and using that to push my music, start performing and build my fanbase as well as building my official team who believes in me, my music, and the success of the entire team.
