Meet Felicia Howe

We recently connected with Felicia Howe and have shared our conversation below.

Felicia , thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
This is an interesting question because it’s a constant test of being human. We are constantly hearing about positive energy and aligning ourselves with higher energy and people that only build us up. And trust me I believe those are honorable standards. However, the world is constantly testing us to find balance and harmony within. If we are attracting or attracted to less than positive feedback. It’s either a part of ourselves that needs attention to instill self-love and overcome our personal adversaries. Or it’s an opportunity to become an example of compassion for humanity and not to take other people’s projections personally.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
For the past few years, I have been working on a new book called Sybil of The Flora. It’s been a dream project and inspired by my ancestors and my family’s love for plants and flowers.

Synopsis
In Sibyl of The Flora Felicia Howe takes readers on a captivating journey into the realm of botanical wisdom, revealing the intricate connections between flowers, healing, and spirituality. This enchanting exploration encompasses forty-six botanicals from diverse cultures worldwide, each celebrated for their profound medicinal and spiritual significance.
Throughout the pages of this book, Felica unravels the rich tapestry of floriography, a language where emotions and feelings have been expressed through the symbolism of flowers for centuries. This ancient practice serves as a bridge to connect readers with the energy and spirit of these plants, inviting them to tap into their timeless wisdom.
Adding a deeply personal touch to this botanical odyssey, Felicia incorporates the flower names and stories about her family. This familial connection not only infuses the work with additional layers, but also allows readers to share Felicia’s intimate experiences and connections with these remarkable plants.
Whether readers choose to randomly select pages from this book, practice the art of Stichomancy, or work with the botanical oracle of each plant as a practice to enhance self-love, the author offers perspective and insight. By engaging with these botanical affirmations, individuals activate their peripheral nervous system, connecting with their primal selves and their environment. This process ignites intuition and fosters a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Every single hand-painted botanical in Sibly of the Flora has been meticulously created using plant-based inks that I personally acquired and foraged. This approach allows me to establish a profound connection and understanding of the natural world while tapping into each plant’s unique essence and infusing every painting with the harmonious energy of these botanicals. By harvesting the plants and crafting the inks by hand, I have poured my heart, passion, and energy into the creation of these images. This hands-on process establishes a special bond with the materials. It enhances the experience, as it emphasizes the magical connection with the botanicals and the healing benefits that arise from such a connection.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Follow your inspiration! Don’t talk yourself out of it! You must do everything for you!

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Currently, the primary obstacle I face is cultivating a sense of innocence and trust in the unfamiliar. Throughout my adult life, I have been a self-employed artist, navigating through both triumphs and setbacks. As I have gained knowledge and wisdom, I have noticed a tendency to become overly practical and detached from trusting the creative process. When I recognize this happening, I consciously step back and realign myself with my core values, surrendering to the power of authenticity and inspiration.
