We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Francesca Tarantino. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Francesca below.
Francesca, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Being 15, I’m honestly still working on my self-esteem. When I was younger I really worried about what other people thought of me and it definitely hurt my confidence in singing. In front of people so much so that I wouldn’t even sing in front of my mom and dad. I loved singing but the thought of doing it in front of others terrified me.
I had a good singing teacher who really helped build up my confidence. She had me write daily affirmations to myself.
It helped.
I think it’s important how we talk to ourselves and how we think. Having a good conversation with someone who has done what you want to do always helps. It definitely helped me to increase my self-esteem and still helps me to this day.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a singer, musician, and songwriter from Orlando, Florida and I love to Rock! I sing, play acoustic guitar, and love to jam on electric guitar, learning as many epic riffs as I can, as well as creating my own. My debut single, “My Runaway” was released January 2023 and was followed by, “Tragedy” which debuted in May 2023.
I was named the 2023 Female Artist of The Year on the award winning internet station, Music Mafia Radio. My songs, “My Runaway” and “Tragedy” both reached number one on their Top 30 countdown and their Top 20 Rock chart!
I am currently writing and spending lots of time in the studio. My next single, “Truth Cannot Hide” will be released January 31st, 2024, with an acoustic version of “Tragedy” soon to follow. “Tragedy” had gone to number one on the Indie platform aBreak58, making me the youngest artist ever to have a number one on that channel! “My Runaway” had made it to number 3 previously on that platform.
I have sung the National Anthem at several events including two games for the Miami Marlins professional baseball team and at The Orlando Magic basketball game on January 21st 2024.
I’ll be performing in early February at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of a high school Rock Band competition!
I’m also actively gigging all throughout Central Florida and I’m really looking forward to many more live shows in the future!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I was lucky enough to grow up in a household where music was constantly being played, most specifically, Classic Rock Music! This definitely shaped and influenced my childhood and helped me learn to love music and instruments.
I was able to take that love of music and turn it into my passion.
Along the way, I’ve leaned to:
1. Never stop learning
2. Don’t worry about what others think
3. Have fun and never give up
My advice to anyone just starting out is to never give up and to enjoy the journey in seeing progress in the process.
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
There are times when I get frustrated because I don’t see my improvement or I want to progress faster. When this happens, I always think of the times when other musicians I know or follow have gone through the same thing.
And they all say the same thing: “keep going!”
I’ve learned that even though I can’t see the improvement, others can.
