We recently connected with Francisco Ortega Jr and have shared our conversation below.
Francisco, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose through a series of misfortunate events. I won’t get into all the details of it. But let’s just say I know I’m on the path that I’m supposed to be on. I have always tried to remain integral, in the person I am and stayed true to myself. I know that my purpose will forever and always be helping others. Whilst also doing something that I’m passionate about.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As I might have mentioned before, I am an ex rope access technician and an ex Non destructive testing tech as well. I worked in oil and gas for about 8 years. And I enjoyed learning the ins and out of what I did. I did my part in producing quality work at all the refineries that I was at, and my rope access knowledge will forever be imbedded in my brain. All Skills that I will carry on with me for a lifetime. I now currently work for the water company. I think it was a good change for me. It’s good to be able to conquer different horizons. I also now own a soccer league. The name of the league is, “Prestige League.” Which I truly enjoy managing and being a part of. Just like every business you start off at the bottom and you steadily try and work your way to the top. I have learned a lot just off of this first season when we had the league running. Everything from the name to the team crests has a specific meaning for us. My friend Anibal and I actually started the business. He is part owner as well. Our League started mid November 2022 and ran all the way through mid March 2023, and we’re hoping to start our second season sometimes in August/September 2023.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe what sets me apart from others as far as qualities, skills and knowledge is the fact that I try and always think outside of the box. I also try and gain as much experience from everyone that I’m working with. There’s always something new to learn from everyone you have a coming together with. Soo my saying is this, “Intake all the good and discard all the rest.” I’ve molded and perfected my skills from learning a little bit from others and developing my own routine. I also have always had a very good work ethic. I don’t give up on things. I work restlessly until I’m able to achieve any and all goals that I have set for myself. If one way doesn’t work, try another, just don’t give up.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My parents will, forever and always, be my Pilars. They laid out the foundation so I could be successful in all areas of my life. And it was because my parents loved my siblings and I. Love and time is the most important thing you could gift your children. I know that now that I have my own child. It’s love that continues to be the moving force for my success. We do things out of love and a passion for doing them. When you love someone you advise them the best you can, because you also want them to be successful. You equip them with the proper knowledge and try and steer them away from as many failures as you can. Even tho some falls might be inevitable.
