We recently connected with Gabrielle Wolff and have shared our conversation below.
Gabrielle, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
We all wish that life was perfect and easy and it just isn’t. I started my adulthood in a horribly controlling and honestly terrible relationship that ended with me being a full time single mother with no child support or shared custody to 2 amazing sons and a brand new career in real estate. This was my first career and has been my only career and I was in a sink or swim situation, and with my 2 little ones relying on me, sinking was not an option. Very quickly I discovered that I needed to be the best real estate agent I could be to provide for my sons and give them an example of what doors hard work, dedication, and intergrity can open up. Despite what you see on TV, real estate itself is a difficult career with many ups and downs as the market, technology, and people all change and evolve. I constantly have to be on my toes to not miss a beat and it can be exhausting but no matter what is happening in your life or around you, the world keeps spinning and you just have to keep going and evolving too.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As a real estate professional, I make people’s dreams come true! Purchasing a home is a fundamental building block of wealth building for the average person, You can leverage the equity in your home to buy a better one, or buy investment properties and homeownership makes investing and wealth building possible for everyone, even if your idea of wealth is only on providing your family with that big beautiful dream house one day. I take great pride in helping people navigate the real estate space and find their dream home, find a starter home that can help them jumpstart their goals, or sell their home to make the most money possible. I feel like a good real estate agent is such an important thing as we are helping people with the largest asset/purchase most people will ever make and this responsibility shouldn’t be taken lightly. There is something so special of being apart of monumental moments in people’s life, and home sales and purchases are definitely that! I have a heavy focus on helping those that have not ever bought a home become homeowners through my monthly buyer seminars, and then we sell their starter homes a few years later and move them into bigger and better! I also specialize in selling difficult to sell real estate that other agents can’t sell, and creative real estate investing to grow wealth through ownership in real estate. It is so important we don’t lose sight of what homeownership can mean, and do what we can to continue to keep that american dream of individual homeownership and investment in real estate alive as a tool to improve the average person’s quality of life.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Resiliance would defintely be number one here, as I mentioned in the first question. You have to keep going, no matter what life throws at you, and of course continue improving and working on yourself.
Number 2 would have to be a desire for growth and knowledge. I am always actively seeking ways to improve my abilities as a realtor, my parenting skills, and of course my relationships and quality of life. And I really love sharing with my friends and clients the ways I find to improve quality of life too.
Third is discipline, Getting up every day and doing the hard things to set examples for the people working for me on my team, and of course for the young men I am raising to one day be great! Deadlines, communication, and good decision making are cornerstones in my business. Of course it sounds great to slack off, but people are relying on me to manage the contract to close real estate transaction and I can’t miss a beat or deadline. My employees are relying on me to keep my bunisess going for their own job stability. And my children are relying on me to provide them with literally anything and everything we have.
Surrounding yourself with people who are committed to the same tings you are and that you value is so important. I also can’t forget to give credit to all the incredible pod casts and books that are available out there that help listeners and readers grow in the areas they need to.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
It is so important to have a home that you love and that brings you joy to come home to after a long day. I put effort into making the house we live in a home that is visually appealling and calming and that just makes us feel good when we walk in the door. So I would start with focusing on making your home an actual home that you are proud to come home to. And then my number 2 thing when feeling overwhelmed would be to get out of town and take a break! Not every vacation has to break the bank. Sometimes, a road trip to one of our many beautiful Texas cities or state parks allows you to take a moment to enjoy what the world has to offer outside of where you live. We have travelled all over, and there is something about a walk in nature with some great weather, or exploring small businesses located in a small old down town area, or experiencing delicious food that makes the daily challenges we face much easier to overcome. Plus, it is a great opportunity to connect with those that we love in a way that we can all appreciate away from the normal hustle and bustle, which is always good for the soul.
