Meet Gaucha Berlin

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gaucha Berlin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gaucha below.

Hi Gaucha, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I’m still working on it. That comes automatically over time if you can start going out and talking to people about your work, participating in exhibits and shows and getting feedback from guests. There is no boost of confidence like having someone approach you at a show and tell you that they love your work. Participating in these events also allows you to meet other artists and exchange your thoughts with individuals on the same journey,This can be very helpful.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
At the moment I am primarily focused on growing my photography business through participating in art fairs and exhibits. This year is the third year of my concentrated effort to find the major Art Fairs in the St Louis area whose attendees are most interested in my Limited Edition Archival Prints. It is a lot of work with early mornings and setting up but also a lot of fun. A special camaraderie grows between artists who are also on the grind of the fair circuit.

Coming up,

You can find my work at Unique Boutique at John Burroughs School in Ladue on November 23-24 and at The Golden Record second floor for Cherokee Print League, which is held on Cherokee Street, December 7.

A piece of my paperwork collection – portrait of BEUYS – is part of an ongoing exhibit – Art St.Louis 40 The Exhibit,
Nov. 2 – Dec. 19. Art Saint louis, 2801 Locust Street, Saint Louis.

A unique collection of 3 D paperwork – wrapped objects – will be on display throughout the month of December at the Schlafly Library on 225 N Euclid Ave, Saint Louis.

GAUCHA BERLIN:

Gaucha Berlin completed her training as a Graphic Artist at the Lette-Verein
in Berlin, Germany, where she lived and worked for more than 20 years.
Her work has been featured in numerous publications and she has exhibited
extensively in Berlin. She has created public work that ranges from restaurant
chalkboards in South Africa to storefront installations in Kreuzberg, the heart
of Berlin.

In 2010 she relocated to Cherokee Street in Saint Louis, MO, where she
immediately began her contribution to the local ART scene.
Within six months her work was featured as the first solo exhibition at
the SOHA gallery.

Gaucha Berlin photography:

Gaucha Berlin finds inspiration for her work from every day life as well as
her journeys as a world traveler. Her love for nature arose at a very young
age. This love originated through daily hikes in the forest with her father,
who himself was a nature enthusiast and photographer.
On the first day of school, at the age of seven, she received a camera
as a gift from her dad. A gift that would change her life.

Her current work is an in-depth documentation of nature throughout the
seasons. These photographs, taken in the Benton Park Neighborhood
of St. Louis over the last 6 years, provide a detailed catalogue of the various
states of botanicals at different times of the year.
She finds great pleasure in revealing a world, hidden underneath
the obvious.

Gaucha Berlin paperworld:

Coming from the 2D medium, Gaucha Berlin has now branched out into 3D
work. Her current practice is turning random objects into sculptures through their
adornment in vintage newspaper and age – old ephemera.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
curiosity, organization, and my ability to see beauty everywhere,

Try out as many things as possible. If you want to paint, paint. if you want to dance, dance, if you want to sing, sing. All to find out who you are, Wherever you feel the most comfortable is who you are. It can take a while. Just don’t give up. Don’t worry too much about what others may think. The most important thing is that you are happy with it. That is all that matters. if you are happy with what you are doing you will automatically shine and radiate who you wish to be. It is your journey and nobody else’s.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
My greatest challenge is trying to find the time to pursue all of my interests and artistic work. To do so is very time consuming and challenging. I am creating in two completely separate mediums both of which take a considerable amount of time.
