We were lucky to catch up with Gerardo Christ recently and have shared our conversation below.
Gerardo , thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from having nothing to loose and everything to gain . I have lived and worked in mexico I know what its like to work for 3 dollars a day to live in a shack with dirt floors no water no electricity any i feel like whem you come from real poverty and real violence and real ignorance you end up being a beast in the American world .
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am Gerardo and the most important thing that I do is Keeping art music and Culture alive in Long Beach ca. I own Belmont Hights Tattoo Boutique were we have art shows and community events and I also Produce and Direct Road Dogs tv were we showcase local music art and community we are on every Friday Night in Long Beach Spectrum Charter Cable . I Also sing in the band Heavenly Trip To Hell for over 20 years wish is playing the biggest metal festival in the Americas in November Hell and Heaven Open air music festival. You can’t change the world but you can change your world your Community
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the qualities you need are a never surrender attitude knowing you got to get your hands dirty be the example and have a tight crew of people who believe in you but number 1 no Fear if you Scared go to church.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I think the most helpful and Important people in my life is my band heavenly trip to hell my brother Sergio Natas on bass my girlfriend Vicky Viciouss on Keyboards Kumar on Guitar jose on drums I Sing . The band has allowed me to travel all over the world and to do it with my best friends is a dream come true. The road dogs tv Crew Belmont Hights TATTOO BOUTIQUE crew they are always down .In Long Beach California we are making sure art music Culture and community are kept Stong and Vibrant
