Meet Gerri Pizzini

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gerri Pizzini a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Gerri, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I’ve always said it’s that “Midwest-work-ethic” and growing up in a small town that gave me my drive and need to be productive, but I think pressures of being self-employed really adds to it and as an artist/entrepreneur I can see the rewards of my work 😃

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I really love being creative and art let’s me do that! From jewelry design with beads to mixed media painting I’ve found a happy place… My business allows me to travel while doing art shows and festivals as I get to explore new areas and meet lots of fun folks on the road. My schedule is constantly changing and keeps e on my toes!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My journey so far navigating the art world has been a lot of work but very rewarding to me personally. It’s like mixing work with what I love. I’ve learned to actively listen more and share what works as well as market my art/jewelry too. My advice is simply do what you love and love what you do but keep in mind nothing fabulous comes easy! 😍

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Oh gosh… sometimes I just fall apart when I’m overwhelmed. But I am learning to find balance and as hard as it’s been, self care is finally a priority for me! Unwinding with a hike or a mini spa day really brings me peace. As someone who tends to work obsessively I struggle with “me-time”. My best advice is pay attention to your needs and block out time for yourself even when you are at your busiest and this is advice I need to follow more as well 😉
