We recently connected with Gianni Beltran and have shared our conversation below.
Gianni, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My Family! I’m First Generation Born here in Miami, Florida. My mom is from Nicaragua and my dad is from British Guyana.
My mom was a political refugee who swam the Rio Grande to come to America and start a life here while my father enlisted into the US Marine Corps and joined the fight in Vietnam for a chance of citizenship within the US.
They both became successful within their own rites before they passed and that resilience lives on in me today.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Im a big fan of free thought, and finding your own meaning through life. I felt like event production and artist development are strong embodiments of what i search for out of life.
Not only do i have the opportunity to make a living through creativity but, I can use that creativity to inspire artists and fans alike to inspire them to think the same..
You can do anything if you put your mind to it so do it. Luck it a combination of preparation meeting opportunity so always be prepared for when opportunity strikes.
I am thankful that BLNK CNVS and NU MGMT allow me to work my creativity under their brands.
We have new events coming for Miami Music Week 2024 and cant wait to have you at one of our 30+ events that week!
We also just acquired a club in Orlando, FL named Celine and we cant wait to activate this space in the coming year.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Thanks to my diverse resume in several different industries before music and live events, those opportunities helped me develop some qualities that i found indispensable when reflecting on where I am now.
First I would say my ability to listen to people whether it be clients, business partners, or people under you. I learned through bartending, serving, legal administration and sales that listening and being proactive based on what you heard is the best way to have someone actually on your side and champion your ideas more. Also from listening i gained much needed perspective when making decisions.
Second, I’d say people will overlook this, but following up is the most important day to day task to always improve on and continue to practice. From legal matters, to sales calls, to even now in event/artist management, following up has been the most helpful thing I could say has given me more opportunities than not.
And third, I would say patience. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Continue to patiently build your skills and self improve so you can build something worthwhile for yourself.
The best way to improve any of these tactics is to practice it daily with discipline.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I can’t say its been on person but an amalgam of people who have helped me along the way and provided insight to help shape my way of thought today.
I would say Grace Russo from Skretz Entertainment, Manny Lopez from House Hats Collective, Leo Duarte from Cause Booking, Eric Fuller from BLNK CNVS/Celine, Nate Humphrey and Fernando Cano from Dream Kids Management, and Yair Hilu from Third Eye Hospitality, Jamie LeComb and my late friend Joshy Benson.
All these people help continue with to shape who I am today and can’t thank them enough for it
