Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gigi Lewis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Gigi, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I started working at a young age like 16-17. So being in the work force that early I quickly learned about working a 9-5 even though I only worked part time after school. After working in fast food, and retail for 5 years I knew I wasn’t going to work for other people for the rest of my life. My entrepreneurial spirit is in my DNA so I was destined to be a boss, but I do believe in balance and trusting the process. I had to work those dead end jobs for me to realize it wasn’t for me and that fueled me at a young age to work SMART now while I was young– so I can create the life I want for myself and my family.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
A little synopsis about me, I am Beauty Boss Coach, Social Media Specialist, & Hair Stylist located in Atlanta Ga. My lane is all things business, social media marketing, and creative consulting. I started my entrepreneurial journey in 2018 when I began to offer hair care/hair styling services. I wanted to be as professional as possible so I went to cosmetology school (The Aveda Institute) got my license and registered my 1st LLC (Astra Hair Studios). While on my journey and learning how to structure my business properly, I realized most hairstylist didn’t have access to this knowledge or even understanding the importance of structuring yourself as a business entity. I love helping others and seeing others succeed so im currently on a mission to offer business consulting services to beautypreneuers who need guidance on how to set their business up for success so they are able to expand to bigger horizons through business credit, grants, investors & more! I feel like this is a very important service to offer and pour back into the beauty industry because financial literacy the key to success! I did a lot of research on my own and had no help so this is one of the ways I choose to give back. On the creative side of things, learning how to build my social media presence and brand awareness came with mastering content creation and social media marketing, which was another obstacle I had to face alone in the beginning, but none the less I have master and gained a lot of insights and knowledge over the past 5 years. I always would get questions like “how did you grow your platform?” how do you edit and create your content?” “How do I get people to engage into my videos and reels”? —so that’s when I decided to create my brand (HerContentExperts). This is where I dive deep into teaching small business owners and content creators how to create/edit content, how to market, how to build a community, how to convert followers into clients/customer, understanding the algorithm, how to use SEO keywords to target your specific audience, & so much more! I have written digital ebooks and created courses where any one who’s ready to take their social media marketing and content to a new level can learn from. I also offer 1-on-1 mentorships for content creators and small business owners who need more of an intimate learning session. So far I’ve mentored 20+ students through my program and online courses. I am excited to say that I will be hosting a 5-Day Content Crash Course Challenge starting December 18-22nd where I go LIVE for 5 days straight via zoom teaching small business owners, content creators step by step how to master instagram marketing and grow their brands through content creation. I can truly say I love what I do! One of my top favorite services that I currently offer are my “Content Day Packages”! I love this service because I literally love creating content no matter what it is! Offering a service where I basically have total creative control and I can help bring my clients vision to life just brings me so much joy! My content days include professional photography and videos, creative direction, editing content, makeup and fashion styling if requested. & these packages are for influencers, content creators and business owners as well! So in a nutshell that’s pretty much what I have going on as of right now!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say the top three areas I focused on early in my journey was number one my mindset. Developing your mindset and programing your thoughts to think from a positive perspective at all times is so important! Ive learned to speak and walk as if I am already who I am working towards becoming. Mastering the art of manifesting whatever I desired in every aspect of my life through the power of how I speak about myself, my goals, and my life as been very vital to my success. One of my favorite quotes is: “You can’t travel uphill with down hill thoughts” meaning you can’t have the desire to achieve something in your life and contradict that desire with fears and doubts about the possibility of it actually happening for you. You have to release all doubts and fears about your dreams and goals and have the mindset that anything is possible for you as long as you have faith in yourself and in god & do the work necessary to achieve your goal. The second thing that plays a major role within my success is my intentions behind everything I do from how I operate my businesses to why I started my businesses in the first place. Setting strong intentions has really helped me stay focused on the end goal whenever I may be faced with adversity. Entrepreneurship has a nice ring to it but it definitely requires a lot of discipline, determination, and perseverance to stick with it. This is why I like to write out my goals surrounding my businesses and keep everything aligned with my over all mission and goals. The last thing that I would say is important is adapting the ability to never take things personal, especially in business but in life in general as well. When you realize that nothing is personal you’ll be able to move through life more smoothly. Ive learned that the only person I can control is myself and never take anything to heart. If people don’t support you that is okay, if people don’t want to see you win or succeed that’s okay too, just be sure to stay away from those people and surround yourself with the people who do and people who you can continuously learn new skills from.
