Looking back at my photography journey, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge stand out as most impactful:
Creativity and Vision: The ability to see the world through a unique and creative lens has been crucial. Developing a distinctive vision and style sets your work apart. Experiment with different perspectives, lighting techniques, and subject matters. Don’t be afraid to push boundaries and explore new ideas.
Technical Proficiency: A solid foundation in the technical aspects of photography is indispensable. Understanding your camera settings, mastering composition, and honing post-processing skills are essential for bringing your creative vision to life. Invest time in learning and practicing the technical aspects to gain confidence and control over your craft.
Effective Communication and Connection: Building genuine connections with your subjects and effectively communicating your ideas are vital for creating compelling images. Develop interpersonal skills to make your clients or subjects feel at ease, resulting in more authentic and emotive photographs.
