Meet Gordon Coopman

We recently connected with Gordon Coopman and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Gordon, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
I have had so many things in my environment happen that I couldn’t control I learned to disassociate from the norms and my spirit for a while. some example are young parents who worked third and first shift so never had a parent around to really take care of me. As a child this was my normal, when I was 5 add a new baby and feeding and changing his diapers, the parents split, then moved every year for the next 15 years while also bouncing between parents. I never stayed in one place consistently then father started having health issues at 12. cousin all in and out of jail. I don’t share this for sympathy I share it to set the stage. life being fair or unfair is all about our perspective. if you choose to focus on all the negative in your environment. that is all you will ever see. human nature has a tendency to focus on the negative as a way to protect us from bad things happening again. this cultivated a hyper independence which is a good and bad thing. I don’t have optimism, Instead I prefer delusional optimism. delusional optimism is the idea that no matter what the environment throws at me I know 2 things for certain. it ok to feel my feeling but sitting and dwelling isn’t going to change anything. the other is misery loves company and that’s not the company I want to keep. so I keep working towards my goals that I set regardless of the inputs from the environment. just adjust to the situation or chalk it up to a bad day. but if you view things on a larger time horizon you get a better perspective. it ultimately is just more productive to be optimistic then pessimistic. or should I say delusional!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I Operate a Training business called Saint Wrong Training abbreviated (St_rong). as a coach this embodies some of the most important philosophies. Saint is defined as a virtuous, patient and kind person who teaches things to the world. Wrong is the inevitable fact that things go south many people ignore this. but having a guide or coach who has already experienced these things can help progress clients faster with confidence. Ive been a personal trainer for the last decade exploring the intersection of movement, nutrition, and psychology. these three pillars are the entirety of our health. I love my job cause I fix peoples problems, I either help them overcome a poor mindset, grow a new confidence by aiding is increasing muscle mass of lowering their body fat, and I sleep very well at night knowing I improve peoples not only quality of life but also the length of it. I Recently Started A group online training program were I help men in there 20’s-40’s get educated on how to reimplament nutrition/fitness back into their life. I provide a weekly education for 12 weeks along with nutrition and workout programs that support that individuals goals and lifestyle. coming off a overall win in a classic physique (bodybuilding) show I also linked up with a local director here in Milwaukee and we shot a short video on how as an individual I used the gym to train muscles you don’t see like resilience, consistency, and goal setting. at this moment we are putting some finishing touches on it. myself and the production team would really love to make a documentry on bodybuilding but the difference is most docs of this nature have been geared toward a bodybuilding audience. this doc would be a drive to survive, full swing style that introduces bodybuilding to the general public. will be starting a go fund me to raise money for that project. cause my athletic goals for the rest of the year are complete a century ride (100 mile in one day) on a bike. then a strongman competition which I have zero experience with. If you are reading this an interested in following along you can follow @saintwrong on IG or for training goto saintwrong.com. my mission is simple educate people so they enjoy fitness and don’t view it as a punishment so they can go on to live long confident lives.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
track metrics in business/you can’t take things personal. things improve or they don’t and that dependent on the actions we prioritize. if you track the wrong metrics you may be valuing the wrong things and not making the appropriate improvement. that is consistent with every field of our lives. also we can prioritize multiple things at once and this is ok. its just going to require more from us or a different strategy. lucky to have had the mentorship of my grandpa who taught me how to work hard. and I just had an insight on one of his lessons he use to teach me. If you are going to do a job do it right the first. this may make you think everything has to be perfect. I recently changed this to execute every task with excellence. it may not be perfect but all thing can be improved life is more about learning from action. make a plan execute then reflect and then do it again better its a continuous cycle. don’t loose hope in yourself or the work. every rep you do should offer some improvements even if they are microimprovemnts. stack these overtime you will grow into someone who is unrecognizable to your younger self. find time to relax like really take a min to not think about work, instead play and enjoy life. this recharges the battery physically, mentally, and creatively.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m ALWAYS open to collaberating as long as it makes sense for the brand. things that create win win situations for both parties. anything that relates to the mission of helping people improve their health is a good start. people id be interested connecting with include supplement, food&beverage companies, and gym equipment if you are a business owner in a different field and have a creative or new market that you think would work Im interested in hearing the connection. best place to connect is Instagram @saintwrong or email gordon@st-rong.fit this is the best way to reach me directly.
