Meet Gregory Austin

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Gregory Austin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Gregory, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I’d have to say my mom. She was very resilient, focused and determined and I believe I have many of her charateristics that I have carried into many areas of my life, personally and professionally. I’ve discovered  that resilience is a vital part of your success in life. You are going to be faced with obstacles on your journey but having resilience will keep you focused on the end results rather than the journey itself.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am the Owner and CEO of GCA Unlimited Apparel launched in December of 2020. It was created to share an empowering message of inspiration and hope through the art of design and fashion. I am a self professed Sloganologist, one can creates slogans that inspire, uplift, encourage and affirm each person that I touch with my work. I believe with so much negativeity in the world we need a message of inspiration, uplifting, encouragement and affirmation to share in the world today. I specialize in Hoodies, T-Shirts, Hats, Coffee Mugs and Journals.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe they have been my focus, commitment and consistency. I have been very intentioanal in these three areas of my life and business. You have to have a undeniable focus to accomplish the things you desire to achieve in your life. There will be distractions, but you have to stay focused in order to see what you desire to accomplish come to pass. I also believe commitment is critical to the success of your goals. Whatever you commit yourself too will allow you to move pass the distractions and reach your desired goals. Lastly, consistency is probably my favorite quality because anything you’re not consistent in will eventually stop. So, consistency is the glue to your focus and commitment. These three things will allow you to achieve your vision and goals personally and professionally and lead you to a successful life and career.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I’d have to say my mom. She has had the greatest impact on my life personally and professionally. She instilled in me a great level of discipline, drive and determination and a early age. She was an entrepreneur and I watched her when I was younger navigate through challenges and how she overcame them and that same passion for excellence and success was transferred to me and how I handle challenges as an entrepreneur. You have to be very resilient and even keeled to be succesful in business and my mom had that special trait and it has definitely been transferred to me. I am self determined naturally so overcoming challenges and never giving up are just part of who I am. I’ve learned to use every stumbling block as a step to my success!
