Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gregory Beylerian. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Gregory, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
When I was a child and my thinking mind and identity was undeveloped, I did not have to find my purpose as it flowed through me as a creative energy whereI played, explored and experimented as I made art.
As I grew older, went to school and then university, I began to lose touch with that “purpose” dynamic. Fortunately, I began practicing a Shaolin meditative practice with a master that brings body, mind and heart into a resonant alignment.
This practice allowed me to become self-aware of why I was feeling “lost” during creative classes in school. I saw that I was being unintentionally taught out of my own intuitive connection with myself.
I realized that creativity is not a gift, it is a practice available to anyone. I spent the last 30 years of my life as to develop and refine the art of being in “creative flow” for which purpose is a consequence.
Now I dedicate part of my time to sharing and teaching this knowledge and practice.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
At my core, I am an artist. To me that means an explorer of consciousness who leaves a popcorn trail called art. Or you could say I am one who enjoys being in a state of creative flow. This has been my love since childhood and it continues to pulse thru my heart till this day. My artwork has been archived in chronological order for my whole life as a reference for me to see the evolution of my own journey and perhaps inspire others who are titillated by the language of art.
I am also a futurist and a student of esoteric knowledge. I enjoy riding the cutting edge of technology and mysticism. I am currently exploring and merging innovations in spatial audio, 360 video, virtual reality, the metaverse, and artificial intelligence. I experiment with the integration of these new mediums with the more traditional drawing, painting, sculpture photography, etc.
I split my time between the practice of being an artist and offering my studio as a creative agency that utilizes my unique combination of skillsets to be deployed with all kinds of brands, businesses, non-profit organizations, schools and events where I teach creative flow experiences.
I see creativity as the most valuable asset of our times, through it comes innovation, problem-solving, personal wellbeing and the ability to resolve societal needs.
As you can tell, I love creativity and think it is the treasure we all seek on what is called “The Heroic Journey”, a term coined by the legendary professor Joseph Campbell.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
To practice being in a relaxed state of body and mind to feel the compass pointing nature of the heart. And to walk in that intuitive direction while having the courage to do so as the mind throws fear in your way.
It has been my life practice to become aware of this and I can tell you that the overwhelming reason in my observations that dreams do not manifest is because of fear.
When we harmonize our system consciously or it just happens as a natural consequence, we get exciting visions of possibility. Then the mind creeps into the story and messes it up.
That is why this process called life is referred to as a “Heroic Journey”. All the dreams you can taste on the tip of your tongue are waiting for you just outside your comfort zone.
So creatives or anyone who feels compelled to make a difference or contribute to this world has to learn how to recognize, acknowledge and transform fear. Otherwise, we will reconcile in our minds to live safely inside the walls of the “village”. That is the illusion to break through otherwise the dream becomes unrealized.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I love connecting and collaborating with people on so many levels. From artists, musicians and dancers who are inspired to co-create. Or with anyone curious about nurturing creativity to flower the infinite potential within each and every one of us. That excites me because for too long people saw creativity as exclusive to artists. Imagine creativity with the entrepreneur, dentist, accountant, engineer, scientist, politician, etc.. In every aspect of our societal life, where creativity blossoms, we have growth, otherwise there is decline.
