We were lucky to catch up with Gregory Lawrence Jr. recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Gregory , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my parents (especially my dad), the people they place around me and the expectations I am given. I am put in positions that will build my character and help shape me into the purpose God has for me. I am always encouraged to go above and beyond everything I do. I work hard physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually by working out, balancing school assignments and playing baseball, getting involved in the community through organizations I am apart of and through my church. I also take on difficult challenges to help build mental fortitude.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
God has given each of us a purpose on this earth. When you take your purpose, passion, gifts, talents and put in hardwork with it, you achieve your Full Potential. My brand, Full Potential represents just that. It does not matter what your career, passion, sport, skill, expertise or position is. We wear apparel that of which we represent. Our clothing is an extension of our vision.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think qualities that were most impactful in my journey were confidence, respect, and fortitude. These qualities helped me a lot. My confidence allows me to speak freely about my business and vision allowing others to want to support, Respect because first impressions are everything, how you present yourself shows a lot. Lastly fortitude because everyone isn’t going to support you which is why you must be strong mentally to block out the negativity. For people who want to improve on these you just have to put yourself out there. When I was younger I was very shy and wasn’t outspoken at all but me parents put me in oraltoricals and I began to come out of my shell. I won 3 years in a row. So as you can see it is possible.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My dad is one of the most helpful people in helping me overcome challenges and building skills. My dad is the most selfless person I know. He makes me a better person and a better man each and every day. We talk about challenges we face now and some I may face in the future and how you would go about them. I get a life lesson maybe every time I get in the car but it is helping me build my character and become a man.
