Meet Guy Michel

We were lucky to catch up with Guy Michel recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Guy, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Being a martial artist for over 20 years has helped me understand that it takes consistency to achieve anything in life. Even when you reach the top of something, there’s always a new challenge. The growth never stops

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I provide entertainment, education, consultation with my cello. I decided to pursue a career outside of classical music because I wanted to experiment with new possibilities and open my mind to what can be done with the cello.

I always get excited about doing things people didn’t think was possible on the instrument. I teach my students to not put a label on any instrument. Their practice goes as far as their minds take them

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Consistency, creativity, open mind. When you embark on that journey, some nay sayers will try to get in your way based on their own fear and limited knowledge. You have to follow your vision no matter what other people tell you. Think of a clear path and focus on improving a little bit at a time. Think of your career as a marathon. Great things take time.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki was the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, which gave me a new outlook on education. The idea of job security doesn’t exist. It’s all about how you manage your money to live the life YOU desire.
