Meet Halston Shannon

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Halston Shannon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Halston with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I always like to say my work ethic is a direct result of the example my mother set for me while growing up. I’ve witnessed her have an extremely active and game-changing role in everything she takes part in. Whether that be her higher education career at Miami Dade College, the great example she sets for what love is supposed to look like in her marriage to my father, or how involved she was in my academic and professional pursuits, I had always told myself that I wanted to emulate that same passion and effort as she does within my own life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have been a Branding Expert and Graphic Designer for the last 9 years. I specialize in Digital & Print Design, Logo Design, and Web Design. In my opinion, my talent truly shines in my logo design work and I believe anyone that has seen my work would agree. While I do high-quality work in general, my creativity and ability to wow people with my ideas is at its peak when creating logos that truly capture the essence of a brand. What sets me apart, to keep it short, is that my work makes you stand out. Like most designers, I am dedicated to giving you what you want but I am also dedicated to going above and beyond your expectations. Clients book me because I have a unique style and have a gift for design that cannot be taught.

Recently, I released my first book! It is titled “Cool, Calm & Creative” and this is a co-authored self-help book where myself and other creators tell our stories of being creative introverts navigating an extroverted world, and how it brought out the inner leader in all of us. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say the three most important qualities that were most impactful to my journey were; – The mentality that I can always learn something new and remain a student of the game;
– Confident enough to know my worth but humble enough to always be coachable
– Being my 100% authentic self at all times

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
It might sound simple, but when I feel overwhelmed I simply step away, and get back to the basics. I clean my room, re-organize my workspace, and move some things around in my planner. It’s best to really evaluate what’s TRULY a priority right now to lessen the amount of stress you may feel at any given time. If I see something that can be moved to tomorrow, next week, or even next month without error I always take advantage to maintain a healthy balance.
