We recently connected with Hamiczech and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hamiczech, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
When I started with Instagram, I knew from the beginning that it would not be a private account, that I would create it for a purpose. I am an entrepreneur, so why not monetize my experience and knowledge here as well. However, if someone thinks that they can create an account on social networks and immediately become a YouTuber or an influencer without lifting a finger, they are mistaken. Anyone who is successful has years of hard work hidden behind shiny social media photos. And you need to constantly improve and learn new things.
Like me. At first I had Facebook, only a private account for my friends, where I didn’t even post any photos, I actually don’t like taking pictures of myself (which I had to change quite radically 🙂 Then everyone started talking about some Instagram..I was like, what is that? Why another network? So I created an account to investigate. It took me a while to get the hang of it, after all it was quite different from Facebook…and to this day something is still being adjusted there.
First, of course, it was important to come up with a name for the account – brand. So what could be interesting? What would describe me? What is nobody using yet? In the end, I came up with a nickname from the abbreviation of my real name and my country – the Czech Republic. Short, punchy, to the point. I will be HAMICZECH.
Another decision. What topic do I choose as my main topic? I can’t cook very well, I certainly won’t put cosmetics on myself in front of the camera, I love fashion, but am I some kind of model?
But what I enjoy since childhood is traveling. I won’t be sitting at home for a while. When I was a child, we didn’t have much choice of where to go. There were only a few countries where the communist regime was allowed to leave, and even then with difficulty. Most often we went to the former Yugoslavia, on the territory of today’s Croatia. Maybe that’s why I still love this country and go there almost every year. Every time I smell the figs and pines, I remember my sweet childhood.
So decided, the Instagram account will be about travel. But how do I get those followers? I’m not famous, why should people follow me anyway? I started adding the first photos and the first people started following me and writing me nice comments. That encouraged me. I found that there is more interest in photos where I am, rather than just the beautiful surroundings. Well, what should I do? I need to start taking more pictures of myself.
I’ll cut it short. After several years of hard work and constant self-improvement, I became a travel influencer. I also created an account with the same name on Facebook because more people still use Facebook than Instagram, especially my generation and the older generation, and since I mainly focus on promoting more luxury hotels, I might find a paying audience here rather than teenagers on Instagram. Now this is no longer the case, luckily Instagram is being used by more and more people, and not just those under 20.
And since Instagram is mainly about the visual side, rather than the informative one, and I wanted to offer the hotels on the one hand and my followers on the other hand information about the places visited, I also founded a travel blog www.hamiczech.tips, which I write in my native in Czech and for the rest of the world in English. A blog really costs a lot of time, especially when you write it in 2 languages + social media accounts (most recently I have YouTube because videos rule the world and I’m still learning how to make them the best and how to edit them) and on top of all this I have my business which feeds me. That’s why it can always turn me on, as someone says – those influencers are having a good time, they have everything for free, they go to beautiful hotels, they don’t have to do anything. Really? So try it! Nothing is ever free!
My conclusion is: actually anyone can become an influencer or blogger. But what are you willing to sacrifice for it? I keep my fingers crossed for all beginners and wish you many happy kilometers!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
In my real life I am an entrepreneur – a businesswoman. I studied at several business schools and learned foreign languages. It’s what allows me to do what I do today. I think world languages are one of the most important skills. And they cannot be learned in a week. Actually, not even in a year.
Like my business, Instagram or blog, I’m constantly dissatisfied with something and I’m trying to improve it, so stay tuned! :))
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As I have already stated, I consider foreign languages to be my best knowledge, I speak English fluently, German a little worse and I have also learned Spanish (but I only know a few sentences). Every time I’m in a foreign country, I try to learn at least the basic words to say hello or thank you. But what I’m not good at at all is Hungarian, it’s not like anything at all :))
My other skill is business – what and how to offer, how to deal with companies, how to do promotion so that everyone is satisfied.
And thanks to my business work, I’ve also mastered the basics of SEO and website creation, which now comes in handy for blogging.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
There is always a challenge somewhere. Right now I want to work on my blog the most, give it a more modern look and write as many articles as I can, I’m just struggling with time.
I would like to be among the best, but most of them have worked hard for years, I have only had a blog for three years and I started it during the covid era, when it was almost impossible to travel, therefore not even to write. Now I can travel wherever I want, but again I can’t keep up with writing 🙂 I have traveled to many countries in my whole life, but I only write about the recently visited ones, because on the one hand I no longer remember the details and I also don’t have suitable photos. Who would have thought that I would decide to become a blogger? 🙂
And I definitely need to learn how to perform better in videos and edit them more efficiently, it’s taking me a long time now. Probably I am already old 🙂
