We were lucky to catch up with Hannah Carroll recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Throughout my journey, I have developed my confidence and self-esteem through multiple means. One of the most significant factors has been building a relationship with God. This spiritual connection has provided me with a sense of purpose, inner strength, and I was able to embrace my faith It has helped me find solace during challenging times and has given me the courage to overcome obstacles.
Additionally, surrounding myself with supportive and motivating people has played a crucial role in my personal growth. My family & friends helped me realize that I had unique talents and strengths to offer, and that I deserved to pursue my goals and dreams. They encouraged me and let me know I can do anything I set my mind to. They reminded me that I was not alone in my journey and had a healthy, strong support system.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a graphic designer from Nassau, Bahamas, catering to female-owned brands in the beauty industry. My business name is called ‘Branded by Blair’ and I’ve been working in the graphic design industry for about 3 years now. Throughout these 3 years, I’ve helped young ladies build the beauty brand of their dreams through creative and unique designs. My niche is content creation for sure, but I offer services such as logo development, website design and more. My target audience is female beauty businesses, so hairstylists, lash techs, nail techs, etc, are who I look forward to working with the most!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Well, I think communication is definitely key when working with clients, or anyone in business, really. You must have great communication skills when working with people; you’re able to effectively relay vital information and understand project goals better, and it also helps both parties stay on the same page. Another skill I think is important would have to be accepting constructive criticism. This can go from peers to clients, even friends/family. Being receptive to feedback and incorporating it into your design process is essential to client satisfaction. I think being open to expanding creativity is also a great quality to have, especially for designers. Don’t be afraid to use new tools, try new fonts, or use new color schemes. If you’re able to be open-minded in your design process, your portfolio will be extremely impressive to potential clients, and you can also influence other designers alike to try new things, too.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client would be one that’s ready to work. When I say this, I’m talking about every aspect: they have a clear vision, they have professional photos, they have all the necessary information, and are payment ready. It’s always easy to see which clients are serious about their craft & business overall and as creative service providers, we need you to be just as serious as we are! It makes my job ten times easier when my clients come prepared; they’re ready to pay on their invoices, their information is typed out, their social media links work and their photos are professional and clean. My ideal client would also possess great communication skills. They’re able to relay their ideas effectively, keep me updated on any new/potential changes that may affect my design process, and can tell me what changes, if any, are needed, in a professional and respectful manner.
