Meet Haze Felix

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Haze Felix a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Haze, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I grew up in a house where music was always playing. There was always a party, plus a large cd collection of all genres of music. I would always have headphones on growing up, downloading new music and old music on the computer. That’s where I really fell in Love with music, especially those rides home on the bus and train from school, that’s where I had the time to listen to all the stuff I had downloading the night before. Plus I’m from NYC so music is everywhere

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I produce hip hop beats for rappers and singers. I’ve been producing professionally for about 4 years now. I also have released a series of my own instrumental tapes available through all streaming platforms. Right now I’m currently working with multiple underground artist while selling beats with my online beat store Hazefelix.com. I’m just grinding now and getting my name out there, connecting with people I find talented and could possibly make something special with. My favorite part about what I do is being able to express my self through sound, also giving other artists a chance to express w.e emotion they want. Its always a beautiful feeling with a piece of art comes out just right.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Keeping a positive mind, I think that helps in what ever you are accomplishing, life will throw things at you, keeping a positive mind will help you get through those things with out losing it.

Always studying my craft, the way ppl make music is always evolving so you should stay up on what going in even if it isn’t your lane. It’s good to have knowledge of all types of trends going on.

Knowing that most people don’t care until you win. Keep your wins and losses to your self as much as you can, it makes it easier to be around others who might not understand where you are in your journey. These days I don’t tell ppl much about what I have going on because it’s just more peaceful that way mentally.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I love working with rappers and singers of all types but especially lyrical ones, I feel like that aspect of hip hop is not the most important right now, but when u combine high quality producing skills with a rapper or singer that actually has dope lyrics to match the beat it’s undeniable. So anybody out there who values high quality lyrics with soulful hard hitting production should definitely tap in with me. Let’s make magic
