Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Heather Stepney. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Heather, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Hello. I have always had a self motivator mentality. My work ethic developed during childhood. I started working my first job at age 12, turning 13 years old. During that time, my family struggled a lot. We moved a lot. At the time, my mom was a single parent, raising four children. I wanted to do anything to help her. To be honest, she was my example. Her work ethic, paved the way for her children. I can honestly say that all of her children, has good work ethics. It does not not matter how you start, just start. It matter’s how we finish. Finish strong!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I really appreciate you! As stated previously, I am a hard worker. Working smart, is key. I always suggest to others, enjoy what you do. It’s nothing like, showing up to work and actually enjoying it. I call it, purpose. When you like what you do and not see it as a job, you are operating in your purpose. We all have a unique purpose, service! So, enjoy what you do. My latest book is out now, where books are sold. Titled, Warriors for Christ. It explains the foundation principals of a warrior. Topics, such as Heart matters, purpose, and development is all inside my new book. As a mentor, I am always open to learning and helping others. You can order book at www.HeatherStepney.com, Barnes&Noble and Amazon!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The most important qualities during your development is first, consistency. Being consistent, will get you the results in a timely manner. The second one is accountability. You will not always get it right and that’s okay. Correct it, adjust and strive to do better next time. Owning up to your mishaps and mistakes with out blaming others, is a form of accountability. Lastly, is service. Rather your working on self, starting a new business, or entering into a new career. How you treat others and yourself, tells a lot about a persons character. Character is developed and a good quality to have. Service isn’t just doing something for someone else, its a mindset. Doing it, without expecting anything back. It’s not about what you do, it’s all about, how you do it! Anyone can serve, but when your happy about it and grateful for serving, is key. You also, have to believe. Believe in something bigger than yourself. Believe in you, if you don’t; no one else will.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
God, is first. Secondly, my support system. Thirdly, my child has been a great inspiration to my life. I have learned so much about myself and matured in so many areas. You never stop growing, Remain teachable, always.
