Meet Heidi Nicolle

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Heidi Nicolle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Heidi , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Starting creating online can definitely be scary at first. You are opening your heart and creativity to the world. You have no clue how they will respond, especially when you see how much online criticism there can be. When starting, I knew I wanted to build a community that focused on spreading love not hate. My confidence and self-esteem come from knowing I’m not going to be everyone’s cup of tea- and that’s okay, and to make sure I gave myself time to find my tribe. Taking care of my body & mind also really helps through working out and eating right. Really it just comes down to a feeling, when you feel good about what you are doing your confidence and self-esteem seem to just shine.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have never been the person who knew exactly what I wanted to do right from the start. I went to school for one thing, started working in a completely different line of work but it wasn’t until I started focusing on what I really loved that I had this ah-ha moment of this is what I was born to do. I have always loved creating from making little movies, to photography, creating little sets and art. I also love researching everything and sharing my finds with others. From these, Heidiisms was created. I have a weekly livestream going on for over 100 weeks where I can connect to my community, share positivity and all my weekly finds in Beauty, Travel, Fashion & Art through my research. I also share regularly on socials and my blog.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My parents both loved photography and shared that passion with me. I also love technology which is definitely helpful with all the video and picture editing apps. This was very helpful when starting to create but really drive, work ethic and staying consistent are the biggest things when starting out. There is an old saying fake it till you make it but what I really stand by is my own saying love what you do so others can love too. When you love what you do it is inspirational and inspires others.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
When I was a kid I read a lot. I remember one of my teachers giving me A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. While I don’t remember everything from the book the one thing that has stuck with me is the hope that even in the most unlikeliest situations beautiful things can happen. This hope and belief has really played into my life, through not being sure of what career I really wanted, to the fear of showcasing my heart & art to the world and in building my community.
