We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hope Zvara a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hope, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
Struggling for many years with addiction, depression and anxiety. But despite the challenging teen years and early twenties I had mentally and socially I always had hope. Hope that things would get better, that this was not all for nothing. That there was purpose in what I was given at such a young age. I had no choice. It was choose optimism or fade into nothing and die. And deep down I believe that God had big plans for me, I couldn’t see them at the time, but I could feel them, and I had trust and belief that I could endure this and I would come out on the other side.
I belive that the people that are faced with challenge in life, if they can get through it AND learn from it, they will bear great fruit from it. That’s optimism
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My joy (and calling) as CEO of Mother Trucker Yoga, where I get to bring wellness to those who need it most – our amazing truck drivers. With enthusiasm and grace, I help them fuel their bodies, minds, and spirits to keep on truckin’. Trucking is where I get to share my unique love and perspective of aging healthy, functional lifestyle fitness and my obsession with small simple changes. Making an impact here is not easy, but I’m dedicated to impact drivers in the biggest way possible for the long-haul rather than just sell a few apps or train a few drivers, I’m always in search of how to make the biggest impact even if it takes a bit longer.
Unleashing my creative side (oh, how it thrills me!), I’ve created the only wellness product line – Road Relief Wellness™ and Trucker Camo™ – dedicated to the well-being of truckers and travelers everywhere. You’ll find these gems at truck stops across the country! And let me tell you, the journey of invention, working with talented manufacturers, designers, and distributors, is exhilarating (and yes, lots of hard work and trust)! That’s pain creams (my own formula), skin are, hydration support, a custom luxury travel mini massage gun and some pretty kick butt trucker camo designed by yours truly.
Now, the lesser-known side of me that I hold dear: as a business and speaking coach and mentor, helping thousands of speakers and business owners find their unique voice. Is it magical? Absolutely! In this realm, I feel most like myself – guiding others to communicate authentically through talks, social media, courses, and conversations. How do I do it? It’s my empathetic heart, the lessons I’ve learned from yoga (hello, body awareness and intuition!), and the valuable guidance from my mentors and colleagues.
So, what’s brewing in my cauldron of dreams? As I continue to inspire those in the trucking industry, I’m also expanding my message to other business owners, spreading the love far and wide. Watch out for more of our products rolling into truck stops, and stay tuned for our ambitious goal: to impact 1 million drivers’ health and fitness through small, simple changes by 2031.
Together, let’s embrace this wild, wonderful journey called life, and may our hearts unite with purpose, passion, and a dash of Hope.
I belive if you are patient life is aways helping you cultivate skills you will use, maybe not now, but in your future if you trust, and 20 years later that trust is paying off.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Authenticity- so many business owners, so-called creators, and influencers aren’t real; the filters and the lack of experience will eventually show. I have always believed that I can only be me, as I am with all I am. And that has to be good enough. So many people personally and professionally focus too much on ensuring they fit in, are accepted, and find someone to copy or do as they did. , I’m the opposite, and although I struggled with feeling like an outsider, I could never be an insider. And when it comes to brand development, being a company leader in your industry, and being noticed, you have to be authentic; you need just to be yourself because it will eventually catch up with you. So many times in life it would have been so much easier if I had just caved and did it how everyone else was doing it, but something in me told me not to, that slower and steady would eventually win the race. Authentic people don’t cut corners or use quick fixes, their values hold them accountable and keep them on the path. That’s me. I could never live with myself.
Originality – Now most people confuse authentic and original as the same. But they are not. Being original to me means I am somewhat different. I look out at what everyone else is doing and while others think “how can I be like them”, I think “how can I not be like them”? I have always been an original person in some way, as a kid I dressed differently, had a different idea for education and a career path, and even in my business today, the way I do things is often not like others, and I’m OK with that. I love the idea of being the first, not like first place, but to bring something new different and needed to those that need it. I guess this is where my constant creating, inventing and development side of me comes in. Anyone can copy a trend/pathway, but few can create one.
Integrity- You’ve gotta know your baseline, what do you stand for, what are you willing and not willing to do? Not knowing this leaves you vulnerable and also a wet noodle for others to take advantage of you. As you can see the above two play right into this. I like to belive that I am who I say I am, and if I”m going to do something, I’m going to do it, if I believe in something I am going to follow through with it. Integrity goes a lot with loyalty for me, I have strong principles in my health- like exercise regularly, try to eat healthy, practice self- care. In my career- always be honest, be willing to work for what you have, and do so in a honest way (don’t steal other peoples s###). And on..
Finally, if you want to run a business be willing and ready to invest all of yourself into it. So many people like the idea of business but don’t really understand what it takes to have a successful one. Stop looking at everyone else for ideas, tips, and what to copy next (sorry I said it), instead ask yourself, what am I good at? What do I love? Where are my gifts? And then be willing to wait to hear the answer. I was a yoga and fitness teacher that now working in trucking. A yoga teacher now coaching tens of thousands in speaking and business development. that didn’t happen overnight, those skills, expertise and insights came about over years and were strung together into a new business I never saw coming, but was open to it and patiently waiting. Stop forcing what isn’t ready for you or meant for you. Trust your intuition and if you dont’ have an intuition then maybe that is your first step.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
This is a funny question, becuase the most impactful thing my parents did for me was also one of the things I at the time hated and wished they would have not done. And that is let me figure out things myself. They were loving parents, who where helpful and there for me, but at the same time, after all their efforts to try to get me help when I was struggling with depression and addiction the just kinda left me, and at the time I felt very alone and probably now someone is reading this thinking I would never leave my kid if they were struggling. But here’s the thing, you can’t fix someone, or change someone who isn’t ready. And I wasn’t ready, I hadn’t hit rock bottom and wasn’t 100% ready to get the help I needed and change. By them stepping way in a sense helped me get my life back. I had to find the way, I had to figure it out, I had to want it. Stepping into recovery was the best and hardest thing I had ever done. Voicing I needed help (for real) and then having to seek it out all on my own was a huge step in taking my life back and understanding what it means to work for something you want. I am so thankful for that moment in my life because it shaped me, my future and how I look at life and everything in it, because my parents let me figure it out. If I didn’t say it yet, Mom, Pop, thank you.
