Meet Imani Marshall

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Imani Marshall a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Imani , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my mom. I’ve watched her work so hard to provide for us when I was growing up. Even though I’m an adult now she still continues to work hard to achieve goals for herself and contribute to her success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a healthcare hero, wife, daughter, and entrepreneur. I devote my time to my job as a CT Tech, while also putting effort into my small business. I own a small business called RoyalyMade. I sell sunglasses, fashion glasses, and press on nails. The motto for my business is “Be The Statement”. There are so many people in the world that want to be like other people because they’re trending. The purpose of my business is to help others become the trending topic.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three areas of knowledge that I would give is Research, social media/promotion, and wear your brand. I’ve learned over the years that if you don’t wear and promote your brand then no one will ever see it or even be interested. Social media is a huge thing especially for small businesses, so don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and make that content. As far as research goes, if you’re creating a brand from scratch or wholesaling. Be sure to research the companies that you are using to help you. Compare prices and look for value. You don’t want to sell anything cheap. I’m still learning a lot of things along this journey of entrepreneurship but the more I learn the more I grow.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The number one obstacle and challenge that I am facing is time management. I work a full time job so a lot of my time is dedicated to it. I have had to learn to make time not only for myself and my family but my business as well. It’s been times that I want to give up but my family and my friends are always there to encourage me and help me stay on track.
