Hi Immacula, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience is an esssential quality to have when working with clients and helping them through a large purchase such as a home. My resilience is drawn from within and is based on an individual’s determination, confidence and positive outlook in life, that itself is not always easy. Resiliency comes with practicing self-care, I set realistic goals as often as I can and challenge myself even when I think I can’t. But more importantly I surround myself with supportive people, my family, granddaughter and teaching at the urban league, it brings me so much joy. I love the outdoors, I surround myself with nature throughout my day with activities like running around my neighborhood, cycling, and my favorite of all times is Pilates. I strongly believe it is an essential part and beneficial in developing resilience. This journey of mine is constant. Never stop learning. I am currently reading a book called Never Split The Difference by: Chris Voss “Negotiating as if your life depends on it” Real estate is a cut-throat profession, “Negotiating is our lifeline”.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
When it comes to finding resilience in my life, there is no better source than a trusted professional. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe it is essential in my journey as an entrepreneur in real estate to be knowledgeable of the industry, and the ability to develop relationships. Our customers are not just clients, they are for the most part family. Organizational skills are key to staying on top of deadlines, paperwork, and other important tasks. Being dedicated and having a deep knowledge of the industry is also important to be able to provide the best service to my clients and potential buyers. Lastly, the ability to develop relationships is crucial in the real estate world – having a network of people who you trust for advice is invaluable.
My advice for those early in their journey as a business owner is to focus on honing the skills and qualities that will make their business successful. Knowing your WHY is very crucial as an entrepreneur. It truly set the stage for the unknowns, the ups and downs and the many times you will feel like giving up. Most of all, remember although it is your journey, you’re not alone.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and seek out advice from those who have been vetted in the industry. It is also important to be patient and remember that success doesn’t happen overnight. Finally, never stop learning.
