We were lucky to catch up with Iris Elliott recently and have shared our conversation below.
Iris , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic definitely comes from my mother. I just think about all the hours she put in. With that being said. Being lazy isn’t really an option. I owe her everything.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I don’t know where to start. I make music, I take photographs , I make videos , I paint , I like to do it all. Why not, right ? Something about just focusing on one thing doesn’t sit right with me.
What I find exciting is the process. Where here for a journey after all. All living our own movie. might as well find joy in every scene.
I’m working on many things at the moment. Helping my brother push the vision of his music studio Soufside Studios . Creating Visual Company under the name Soufside Studios with my brothers.
Creating music and other pieces. I just dropped an album called Good Luck by Iris Elliott. Now on all platforms. And one more but not last I started my own brand GetStonedoffArt. All here in Atlanta.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say the first is understanding your own spirit. Second I would say faith. Never lose that. and the last I would say self expression. Thats everything to me.
My advice I would say listen. Listen to the world around you. Listen to the world inside of you. Be patient . Take your time with it and most importantly always be you in the things that you do.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Probably mental health . Taking the time to understand my self and spirit was needed.
