We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Iris Meredith Bell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Iris Meredith below.
Iris Meredith, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I am inspired by my community! The people who frequent our shop are seekers, and they are usually seeking a sense of being witnessed. To see and hear the spiritual or emotional needs of people, and to have suggestions designed to empower them, it makes the days so full and so rewarding.
We’ve created not only a shop, but also an energetic home for the spiritual outcast. Over and over again we hear, “I’m here to remember who I am.” Where else can you openly ask about the spirit haunting your attic? Or receive guidance around getting over your ex?
Knowing that we help folks feel accepted and seen is the reason I’m devoted to this shop. I believe that belonging to a community is how we ensure our collective future.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
The Raven’s Wing Magical Co-op is your neighborhood witchy supply shop, located in Southeast Portland, Oregon. We offer readings, rituals, and classes, as well as crystals, candles, incense and oils. And of course, books! We are able to invite authors and teachers from all over the West Coast.
We also create herbal bath salts, teas, and potent aromatherapy oils to inspire and enliven your own magic. Find us online!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The most important skill I’ve acquired throughout my career, by far, is reading Tarot cards. I was taught by my mother, 30 years ago, and it’s continued to be a skill that opens doors for me and for my business. I teach Tarot, I read for clients, and I’m able to spread the word about my business and our services by reading for events around town.
I also rely on my friendly nature! It’s always amazing to me how an open smile and a ability to remember names can create opportunities. Thinking of other business people as connections for networking and collaboration, rather than competitors.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
staying current online and competing with the giant corporations.
