Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Isaiah Boozer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Isaiah, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from a long ancestral lineage of strong black women who invested into the future generations. My resilience comes from the depth of African heritage and culture, it comes from not necessarily wanting to be resilient but needing to be in the face of tremendous adversity.
my resilience comes from the West African Yoruba tribe and the desire to be great.
As the West African proverb states: “Ẹni tó ńrọ akàn dúdú kò ní pé lajú, ó tó ńrọ ara rẹ̀rìn ló ńṣe pé lajú.” Or , “One who wears a dark robe does not boast of endurance; it is the one who wears a torn robe that boasts of endurance.”
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Isaiah Zavion Boozer I am a multifaceted artist, a Playwright, A Director, Actor, Videographer, Filmmaker, an Accolade Achieving Screenwriter, A 2021 United States Presidential Scholar Semifinalist, (appointed by the White House), An Alumni of The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, a 2021 National YoungArts Winner as an Actor, a 2022 TEDx Speaker, a 2022 Kennedy Center Directing & Playwriting Intensive Graduate, a 2023 Broadway Advocacy Coalition x Cody Renard Richard Scholar, and amongst other things A current Playwriting Student at DePaul University.
I like to describe my art as a dagger, when removed from the body it has occupied it does not remove blood it removes the truth and deeply rooted truths that we try to ignore and protect those from seeing.
What excites me about my art is that it causes us to confront the dark parts of ourselves and do the shadow work, it calls for us to confront our own morality and ethical code and it calls for us to question the human that we truly are, and confront the spirit that we truly want to be.
When following me on YouTube, TikTok or, Instagram you will see a continual trend, my work focuses on mindfulness, intentionality, and critical analysis of culture and decision making in our society.
I’m continually launching new videos, podcasts, visual essays, visual poetry and a multitude of other projects.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three areas of knowledge for me are transformative mindfulness, radical self love, and global perspective!
I will now break each of these down starting with mindfulness:
you need to be able to pay attention to people and what people need–it is TRULY best to treat people how you would like to be treated. you need to be mindful about what you say how you say it, how you approach people, and what you desire from them.
secondly radical self love:
in an ever evolving world, with endless cycles, and winding roads A basis of foundation that you can come back to within yourself this is the most important thing in one’s life. how do you find this? asking yourself what you desire for in life and exploring what it is that you can give to yourself….we are the only divine entity on this earth that knows how to love us at the depth to which we desire love.
the last one global perspective:
what I mean by this is being able to look beyond oneself or one certain set of circumstances and having a curious eye for what’s happening in the world and what our collective consciousness is disgusting…that will only help the conversations you have, the places you aspire to be, and the world in which we will build together.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am most certainly looking for people to collaborate with the types of people I want to collaborate with our people who:
– truly want to cause of paradigm shift in our collective consciousness
– who find the great comfort in discussing race, sexuality, religiosity, power, control, and amongst other things, systems of oppression.
– who want to use art, content, modes of media and other transformative ways of engaging with communities to wake people to the divine calling each of us has, that calling being love.
