We were lucky to catch up with J. Kahlel recently and have shared our conversation below.
J. , so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I keep my creativity alive by continuing to be inspired by who I believe to be the greatest artist, God. I do this by being aware and paying attention to things that couldn’t have been made by men or women. I ponder at the shining sun, I watch the moon at night, and continue to be amazed at they beauty of the stars and Mother Nature. I study the behavior of it all and relate it to our everyday lives because I believe we are connected to it all like a large canvas filled with motion and life. Unfortunately, I believe there are artists that create things that ruin this painting. On the other side, I also believe there are artist that create things that compliment this painting very well. Personally, I try to be the artist that pleases God’s artwork In the best way possible. All in all, many people are inspired by other artists, but what they don’t know is that many have had to be inspired by someone or something to create. I believe If one were to search down the line of the inspiration of any great artist, one would find the main creator, God, as the main creative power to anything and everything.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a music artist, and I create music. All of my music and visuals are made exclusively by me. They are special to me because I mix and master the sounds and I record and edit all of the music videos. Anyone is able to stream my music on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify and are able to watch my music videos on youtube. In addition to making music, I direct and produce my own movies. If anyone would like to watch my first feature short-film, “Rich”, it’s on amazon prime for $2.99. In the movie, I play as the main character and I tell a story to show the viewer different perspectives of being “Rich”. I have more movies coming soon and all LA artist and actors are welcomed to collaborate. I’m very excited about what New things I create because all of it is an expression of my fullest individuality.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Knowledge of self, God, and People were most impactful in my journey of becoming an artist. If I were to give advice to any artist I would tell them to be present, live life, and experience it for what it is. Then, take your experiences and put it on a canvas. The canvas can be an actual canvas, a microphone, a computer, or anything that allows you to show another person your story or ideas. Excitingly, that artwork would be a reflection of you and maybe even someone else.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
My Akashic records played an important role in my development. It showed me the meaning of life and help me see life for what it really is. The most impactful jewel is that it help me understood that I have to let my heart decide what I want and to let my mind pave the way. This peace of wisdom keeps me aligned and happy with all of my creative endeavors and most importantly, life itself..
