Meet Ja-Naisah Salters

We were lucky to catch up with Ja-Naisah Salters recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ja-Naisah, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Confidence begins with understanding your identity. Who are you? Many people go wrong putting confidence or trust in themselves, whereas there is no truth there. Our bodies, our flesh is full of emotions, beliefs, and our own understanding that is constantly changing until we are aware of our true identity.

When Jesus died on the cross, He died so God our Father can gain children in Christ. Jesus sacrificed his body for our grace and mercy. Because of grace, God our Father does not shame us or reject us for our sins, but instead grants us each a certain amount of grace for our sins or mistakes. After the first Adam and Eve disobeyed the Father by eating the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, we all became born again sinners. Now, because the Father understands we will make mistakes, sin, or trust in our own selves rather than Him sometimes, He grants us grace to repent and be able to seek Him first in ALL things. After the first Adam failed, God sent the second and last Adam, his very own son, Jesus, to do things right, which he later served as a sacrifice for our sins, so God our Father can gain more sons and daughters in Christ seeking Him first in all things as our Heavenly Father, the creator of the world and all things. I wholeheartedly put my trust in the creator of the world every time as it is written and proven that relying on His word will straighten my path, as the word reads “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). When relying on His word and not our own understanding, we are led on a righteous path to prosper in His kingdom in all that we do.
Once I understood the promises that are placed on my life as a daughter in Christ, I understand that there are absolutely no limits to my success or capabilities, as I am capable of all things through Christ. Christ is in all of us, however we must choose to accept the anointing of Christ. Growing up, I always felt anointing, a protection, a divine calling over my life. Because I was not raised by spiritual leaders or consistently in the Church, or disciplined to study the Word, I did not have the knowledge on how to activate my anointing until I understood the promises placed over my life as a believer in Christ Jesus. His word is the source of all truth, as Isaiah 40:31 reads “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like edges; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”. Patience is preparation. My time is not the time I rely on, but it is the Father’s timing and plans I trust. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. So, I know God’s plan for my life is far greater than any plan I ever imagined. During my most uncomfortable times, I know I shall prosper, as every situation good or bad, comfortable or uncomfortable, I shall gain wisdom that prepares me for my divine calling and anointing over my life. His word is literally the source of all truth. God builds up his children, so whenever you feel torn down or hear evil thoughts, know that is not the voice of God the Father so that is not a voice to trust. Be filled with His word, understanding the truth, instilling confidence by reading and believing His word. The key is studying the Bible to apply it to our everyday lives, not to simply memorize scriptures. The Bible is the written text that teaches us how to live in our truth that the Father promises for our lives.
After understanding my identity in Christ, I must stay baptized in the Holy Spirit. Some strategies to stay baptized in the Holy Spirit or Build up confidence in Christ are:

-practice righteousness
-giving
-love your enemies
-fellowship with other children in Christ
-pray violently
-alter your music; listen to music that uplifts you and instills confidence.
-do not shrink your spirit for others
-be intentional with your time

Practice righteousness by making purposeful efforts to walk in the Spirit, doing what’s virtuous, honorable, and morally right according to His written word. Have a giving spirit. If someone is in need and you are capable, give without seeking reward. Love your enemies, do not hate them or wish bad upon them as they are demonstrating an orphan spirit, a child-like spirit that needs prayer. Share together with other believers in Christ the common union, common love you have with Christ and one another. Pray violently. Praying violently means fervency, persistence, and self-sacrifice. Praying violently entails praying consistently, crying out to God our Father (Abba), submitting to His commandments, fasting, praying with all your emotion, not delegating prayer to others. Be intentional with your time. Do not waste hours scrolling on social media when you could be refueling your spirit with His word. Listen to music that supports the lifestyle of Christ that is in you. Baptize your mind in Christ at all times. Instill your trust in the spiritual world, spiritual realm, not the earthly world, as the spiritual world produces the source of all truth, the truth that is instilled within all of us, but we must choose to accept and believe this truth. James 4:7 says “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you”, therefore when I am frustrated, confused, unsure, attacked, fearful, or anxious, I submit to His word, the promises for his sons and daughters in Christ. Exodus 14:14 says “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still”. Confidence derived from emotions will always change and be unstable. Confidence grounded in the Lord will always be a steady presence and a driving force in the lives of Christ-believers.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The most impactful qualities or skills in my journey are honor, patience, and faith. There’s no faith without patience. God’s promises rarely occur when we (the flesh) want it to, but when God knows we need it to. It takes patience to trust in Him to allow Him to show us how to walk in his son’s perfect image. It is important to show honor in every situation to everyone because God our Father allows us to gain wisdom from every experience we encounter if we “be still” and trust in Him. To learn more about honor, I recommend reading the book “Kingdom Honor” by Gary Montoya.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

My pastor Apostle McKinley and his amazing wife Dr. Cindy Hardy has been a major part in helping me overcome challenges and develop the essential skills, qualities, and knowledge to be successful. We are all going to experience hardship. That’s inevitable, but do we have to fall apart every time? Do we need to worry during hardship or focus on the lesson that can be learned from this hardship? What is my Father preparing me for by taking me through this hardship? Remember, He allows us to gain wisdom in all situations. So, if we’re worrying, stressing, or anxious during hardships, are we really learning and growing…in Christ? Know His Word, Know that His Word lives in all of us. We must choose and accept the promises placed upon our lives. As my pastor Apostle McKinley says “Know why you were born, then go do it!”
