Meet Jacques Devore

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jacques Devore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jacques, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Much of my resilience came from my parents when I was growing up. My father always emphasized thinking for yourself and questioning everything. This leads to having to be resilient in the face of situations that you no not see the same way as most.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I was a wrestler in high school and college and have never stopped training. I love bicycles and raced for about 20 years. I have recently taken up Jiu Jitsu, which takes me back to my wrestling roots. I am an avid reader and love spending time with a book and a cup of coffee. Travel is still a passion of mine and I have travelled to about 40 countries. I also love jumping on my motorcycle and exploring the US.

I am currently working on a new product. It will take the principles of risk and return in investing and applying that to the management of one’s health. It will focus on the overall strategy of improving health span. Where should your time and resources be spent to most efficiently improve your health and lifespan.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Thinking for yourself, questioning everything, take 100 percent responsibility for everything that happens in your life.

Once you have realized that you are the only one responsible for your life, things get much simpler. There is no one to blame. That does not mean that things do not go wrong, but it is your responsibility to respond so that you evolve and learn from these experiences.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents taught me resiliency and the value of knowledge and discipline. Sometimes the path may be unclear, but if you live with integrity and virtue then the journey has great value.
