Meet Jake Jansing

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jake Jansing. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jake, we are so deeply grateful to you for opening up about your journey with mental health in the hops that it can help someone who might be going through something similar. Can you talk to us about your mental health journey and how you overcame or persisted despite any issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
Something that gives me an immense amount of hope for the future is the focus we now have on mental health. For far too long, mental health was placed on the back burner and the impact was often ignored. Now that further research has been conducted and people are having more open discussion, we are learning crucial information about mental health and people are finding answers to long-held questions.

The way I approach mental health is no different than how I treat physical injuries. When you break your arm, you never just ignore it and hope it resolves itself. The way we treat physical injuries is by taking a step back and asking for help; I believe mental health should be treated the same way. There is no shame in allowing yourself to address your inner battles and seek guidance, support, or simply remove yourself from a situation for rest and recovery.

We have a long way to go, but I am optimistic about the progress that has been made recently and hope we will see improvements in our healthcare system.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
For those who may not know, in addition to my comedy, I am also the head of a company called Jocosus Media. 2023 was a huge year for Jocosus and we cannot wait for everything to come in 2024! Our core focus is helping to grow small businesses and building businesses for content creators. Influencer marketing is the new industry standard, yet micro-influencers are often overlooked. We have found that while micro-influencers have a smaller audience, the fans they have are loyal and truly captivated by the content. Micro-influencers also often have a specific niche that makes sponsorships a win-win deal. A company could spend their whole marketing budget on a billboard that will reach a broad audience and maybe gain a few website visits if they’re lucky. With micro-influencers, companies can spend a fraction of the cost and reach a specific audience far more likely to pay attention to the ad and significantly more likely to support the company.

Offering opportunities for growth to both small businesses and micro-influencers is incredibly rewarding and I cannot wait to see the results Jocosus Media brings this year!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe above any skill or personal quality, there are three people you need in your life in order to achieve any major goal; You need a mentor, a researcher, and a friend. Your mentor is someone who you believe represents success in your dream career/lifestyle. If your dream is to be a headline entertainer, your mentor should be someone who has reached that level. Your researcher is going to be the person you trust to find the most realistic pathway to your end goal. The researcher could be a teacher, a friend, a family member, etc.. The researcher does not need to have all the answers, you just have to trust that they will help you find the answers. Most importantly, a friend or support system. There will be obstacles along the way and some will feel like complete failure. Your support system is not there to give you answers or guidance, they are simply there to pick you back up and remind you anything is possible. The single most important step in achieving any success is not only having these people in your life, but understanding the boundaries and the unique roles they will play in your journey.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for creative people to brainstorm ideas for future projects, and I am always looking to perform. If you are looking for help on a current/upcoming project, or if you are hosting a live show and need performers, feel free to reach out to me on Instagram!
