Meet James Knox

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to James Knox. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi James, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Man really just growing up and watching my mom at times struggle. Seeing her maneuver and make sure me, my brothers and sister had everything we wanted despite any financial hardships. That pushed me and showed me that no matter what the case may be whenever there’s a will there’s a way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
RGE Cares is a non-profit organization that was built with the intention of serving people. Our dream is to provide relief for as many households as we can and to create opportunities for low income communities. Our vision is to provide relief to as many households as possible through the form of monetary relief and everyday essential necessities, as well as to create opportunities for low-income communities whether it be jobs, career building tools and/or mentorship programs, and to heal.

At RGE Cares we aim to inspire, motivate, and with area schools, one-on-one tutoring, and college preparation. When a youth joins RGE Cares, they not only join a family, but become part of a cultivation process designed to empower them to excel in their personal, academic, and future professional lives. We believe this is how you change a community for the better—by bettering the next generation.

Founded in 2019 by myself and business partner Maurice Jones, RGE Cares has done so much for the community. Coming from a strong non-profit background having worked with Robin Petgrave and Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum, RGE Cares is backed on that same mission with providing resources for underserved communities.

Fueled by the passion that comes with making a difference in the community, Me and my team at RGE Cares have been successful with doing just that. From giveaways with Footlocker to Summer Camps sponsored by PUMA, RGE Cares is continuously looking for ways to better the future of the kids in these communities.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say, you know be more fearless. All my radical moonshots have defined me. That don’t be my downfall, my downfall will be not going crazy, not having a higher expectation. Anytime I done set my sight on something that seemed way outlandish, it always come back exactly how I seen it. So, I think I would tell myself and everyone around me to just put way bigger goals on the wall. Just have a bigger vision, have a higher expectation and NEVER GIVE UP

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Honestly it quite simple. NEVER GIVE UP, GO HARD, AND DON’T WAIT FOR HANDOUTS. Those 3 things have single handedly shaped who I am today.
