Meet Jamie Millam

We recently connected with Jamie Millam and have shared our conversation below.

Jamie , thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
I have struggled with mental illness for over 20 years but luckily along the way, especially in the last few years I have acquired some pretty helpful tools to help change that mindset. I try to be really aware of when my thoughts turn negative, and when they do flip the script on them towards something positive. It’s trying to always have the mindset that most things can be turned around. Also through my love of movement and becoming a Yoga teacher I’ve learned that breathwork, meditation and movement can really help to move the negative energy out of the body and create an overall peace. Finding that clarity and peace really helps to keep things positive.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My partner and Nurse Practioner Jessica Nichols DNP, APRN own and run Graceful Wellness and Med Spa. Jessica approached me to come on and open the Yoga Studio part of the business, but when we got to talking our energies combined and this beautiful dream became so much more. We both feel wellness is at the forefront of this endeavor. We are not like typical Medical Spas, we are offering more of a full body approach. So yes we offer the typical services of tox and filler but we also care about our clients as a whole. For example, right now we are offering semaglutide shots but we are coming at it from a whole different perspective. We don’t just want to see the person shed the weight, we want them to learn lifelong tools they need to succeed. While the client is here they spend time with Jessica the Nurse Practioner, as well as Kaylee one of our nurses who is certified in nutrition, and we offer them yoga classes so they can learn to move their bodies as well. Our goal is not only to jumpstart their weightloss but really help them fall in love with health and wellness. We offer a variety of services, including facials and peels, neurotoxin injections, Yoga classes, IV hydration, IM injection therapy, Nutrition counseling as well as many other things! I’m so blessed to work with an incredible team and in a place that is truly about helping others feel their best.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities I find that have helped me the most and helped me continue more easily on my path are people skills, finding your true passion, and being able to delegate. Peole Skills- Having compassion for others and finding something to connect with them about is everything for creating authentic relationships not only in business but in life overall.

Finding your true passion-Once you find what drives you, giving yourself permission to try and make that into a career. Even though it may be slow going, and sometimes discouraging, trust the process and continue to believe in it. Set those intentions or goals daily, weekly or monthly and keep moving forward.

Delegation- Being able to ask for help or delegate is something I am still learning. Our business is still fairly new, but I believe learning how to ask for help when you need it takes things off your plate so you can focus on the things that you really want to do. The things that light you up and will drive your business towards success.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I journal a lot and try to spend time recharging my batteries and checking in with myself. I really believe if you are not stopping and taking time to re-evaluate where you are, and what you need to do to keep growing you cannot move forward. Journaling allows me to reflect on where I am and also look back and see what was happening last month or last year. I also value talks with my husband where we call each other out on things, and take time to really connect. My business partner Jessica and I do the same, trying to really stop and connect and communicate. Even if it happens at 8pm in the parking lot after work. We both realize being transparent with one another and communicating on a deep level is going to allow the business to evolve in its most authentic place. Our goal is always to remain true, authentic people working towards a common goal, helping others, and in turn operating a successful business.
