Meet Jashanna McQueen

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jashanna McQueen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jashanna, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from the Source, Higher Power, God. I did not know what I could do until I started releasing control and trusting God. I’ve experienced character-building, tribulations, and a bunch of loss. I can stand on two feet because of God’s love, grace, and mercy. My spiritual practices have shown me that I am resilient. As my faith grows, so does my resilience. I am taken through a lot of seasons where I am tested beyond measure but I am convinced that I can withstand anything.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I write thought-provoking content. I play a bunch of characters. I create stories from the heart. Everything about what I do is extraordinary. I am here to provide entertainment through storytelling and innovative creativity. Leo Blu Productions is a production company designed for new ideas, original content, and a space for everyone. I am looking to unite creatives through the love of film. I am rebranding the company to build its culture, set expectations, and push the bar for everyone.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities I’ve had to develop were leadership, adaptability, and originality. To own a company, you are a leader. Leadership is beyond the idea of giving orders. You have to be mindful of your character, and how you handle situations, and know that every decision you make affects everyone. If you don’t make an effort to grow, the business will suffer. Adaptability in the film industry is imperative. Changes are a part of the business. I’ve learned how to navigate the adaptation of a quick change. Originality is my favorite skill that’s a constant evolution. I am inspired by fresh ideas. Being original paves the way for the next generation of filmmakers. They will know it’s safe to be themselves.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Character is the biggest area of growth. These past 12 months have been life-altering. I’ve been challenged by my creativity, integrity, and respect for myself. I didn’t realize how much I was compromising to survive. I had to learn who I was and what I meant to myself. I built my character through resilience. My evolution as a person is the most important thing to me. My character affects every area of my life. It’s my representation. It’s my creativity. It’s my motherhood. It’s who I am.
