We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jasleni Brito. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jasleni below.
Hi Jasleni, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes straight from my parents. I’ve never seen harder working people. They left the Dominican Republic young, doing whatever jobs they could—my mom washing and ironing clothes, my dad landscaping—until they saved enough to move to New York in search of the American dream. They bought a grocery store and became the entrepreneurs they always dreamed of being. My mom, especially, taught me that hard work, perseverance, and audacity get you where you want to go. Their resilience runs through everything I do, especially my art.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
These days, I lovingly call myself The Art Witch. After a decade of helping entrepreneurs with branding and website design, I’ve fully embraced my passion for art and woven it into my work. Whether I’m guiding clients in reimagining their brand, capturing their essence in a custom painting, or helping them craft the life they truly desire, my goal is always the same: to help people express the most vibrant, authentic, and creative parts of themselves.
Art and creative expression have always been at the heart of my life. Even as a child, I found beauty and magic in everyday moments—like the way leaves cast dancing shadows or how curtains sway with the breeze. This attention to detail and wonder has shaped everything I do, from branding and commissioned paintings to my latest project, La Caribeña Oracle deck.
At the core of all my work is the belief that art and magic have the power to heal and transform. I’m passionate about helping others embrace their unique magic and share it with the world. It’s truly an honor to be part of that journey.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Embracing my identity as The Art Witch has been a colorful and challenging journey, often making me reflect on what I truly believe and value. Through all the disappointments, rejections, victories, and surprises, three things have kept me going: my burning desire to create, the belief that anything is possible, and the courage to keep trying. As a woman, an Afro-Latina, and an artist, society has often taught me that being my most authentic self would be difficult or even undesirable.
But my advice to anyone—especially fellow creatives—is to get crystal clear on the life you want and be unapologetically bold in pursuing it. Don’t be afraid to dream audaciously. If you go after it with all your heart, you’ll experience growth, gather meaningful stories, and celebrate small wins that eventually lead to something beautiful. It won’t always be easy, but it will be worth it.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’d love to collaborate with vibrant, creative souls who love color, have eclectic tastes, and are dedicated to bringing something unique into the world. Whether you’re creating an oracle deck, hosting an art show, or planning a retreat, if you’re passionate about healing, transformation, and working toward social justice, I’m all in! My ideal collaborators are deeply spiritual, committed to personal growth, and eager to infuse magic into their projects. If this sounds like you, let’s connect and create something truly powerful together!
