Meet Jay Saffi

We recently connected with Jay Saffi and have shared our conversation below.

Jay, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
I’ve learned to be effective and successful just by being myself. In todays world everyone wants to be somebody or sound like somebody but when you are genuinely yourself, no one can replicate that.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Jay Saffi and music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I feel like the most special part about music is being in the studio creating things from scratch. Growing up in San Diego I’d find friends with the same interest and we’d perform anywhere we can. Fast forward to 2024 I’m focused on new endeavors, I will be dropping a Valentines Album with a few music videos, and I also have an album ready for launch in March. On the other hand I have been shifting my focus on business and expanding my Shopify account to the masses. I plan to expand my brand by adding merchandise that my fans can obtain and keep for a lifetime.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
So I would say the few traits that stand out are consistency, being a team player and being goal oriented. When I first started out I didn’t know anything about this music business. Now as I learn to grow in this industry I’ve seen that consistency will put you in rooms that you never thought you’d be in, being a team player will help you get to where you want to go because music needs key players in order to create the best sounds. Lastly, being goal oriented can help push yourself every month and every day. When you set goals you need to write them down on a white board so you can see the plan in action, you want to set short term goals and long term goals in order to stay from being stagnant.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
San Diego has a lot of talent but as of right now my next collabs I would love to work with would be Lil Weirdo and Lil Maru. I feel like we could make a dope thug love song. If they are reading this we can connect through email jaysaffimgmt@gmail.com or Instagram @jaysaffi
