We were lucky to catch up with Jazmine Hall recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jazmine, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
As an artist, confidence in your creations is one of the most significant qualities to have. If you don’t exude confidence and assurance in yourself, it is difficult for others to have confidence in shopping with you.
When I started my business, I gave my clients excuses for my work and the parts I did not like. My lack of confidence pushed my clients to point out other imperfections and places to improve. I would start the engine of negativity by seeking validation from others. This is a critical issue in creating art; your validation should come from YOU. From your gift. From your confidence. In seeking validation from others, you have to be convinced that your work is worth it.
Once you develop confidence in yourself and your passion, there will be no question from others about the beauty of work you produce. It will be showcased by you, the representative of your artwork.
I developed my confidence in my art field by practicing and soaking in as much knowledge as possible. In order to be the best, you have to be willing to always learn and give yourself room to grow. I did just that! I took classes, I watched countless videos, I networked with others, and I continued to create. In learning so much, I no longer answered potential client’s questions, inquiring if I could complete a unique product; I told them YES! I challenged myself, I created things not even on the market because I believed I could do it. I have the knowledge and expertise; the confidence grew from that.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Jazmine Hall, I am the owner of Bloomed by Jazmine, founded in 2020. My brand began as an outlet for the world around me. I started with paintings and gradually switched mediums to epoxy resin. Before I knew it, my business was booming, and I no longer needed an outlet. I was so enamored with my art; I did not need an outlet to release; my art WAS my release. The most exciting part of Bloomed by Jazmine is watching the development and growth of my brand. I always wonder what “2020 Jazmine” would think of “2024 Jazmine”. I have created incredible art pieces that clients have paid me to make. Each piece is unique and custom, and created from my love of art. Bloomed by Jazmine has quickly become a trusted name in the world of luxury home decor.
I have recently been on a maternity leave from creating, for the safety and overall happiness of my new baby and family. I will be returning to my business March of 2024, not only with an excited front, but with a rebranding and new product line. Be sure to check out my website at www.bloomedbyjazmine.com
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One person’s journey is not identical to another person’s journey, but here is what impacted me in my journey in resin. Learning that I needed to give myself grace and space to grow. I had to understand that I was not going to become Picasso of resin after one creation. I had to accept that I was going to make mistakes and find areas to improve. Giving myself grace allowed me to accept the decisions I made in the art field and grow from them.
Another impactful lesson I needed to understand was to create my own lane. Watching videos, taking lessons, and soaking in knowledge pushed me to believe I had to create similar to these other artists. I thought my work would not be valued if I did not pour in the same fashion others poured. I remember creating a set of coasters in an unlikely color palette and style, and I was so sure no one would like them or want them. They didn’t look like other artists’ work. But once I posted it, my coasters went viral, and the orders flew in with clients that wanted coasters in this style that I created. My confidence grew and I created my own vision for my art.
The most impactful lesson I learned is also my business motto. A flower doesn’t compete with the flower next to it; it just blooms. Your biggest competition is you! You should have tunnel vision in creating your art, to be better than you were yesterday. In doing this, you are constantly challenging yourself and growing.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
My biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has been in my ability to give myself time to relax. I was forced, in a way, by becoming pregnant in 2023. Resin is a toxic medium, harmful to vulnerable people, like pregnant women or babies. I withdrew from my business on a break from June 2023 until March of 2024. It gave me time to rebrand, generate new ideas for the business, and most importantly, dedicate time to myself and my family. Now, I am ready to go after all of my goals for 2024!
