Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jazz And Jess. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jazz, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
For us, imposter syndrome is a bit of a revolving door. As our listens per episode ebb and flow we go in and out of a confidence/imposter syndrome space. If our listens are lower one week, we may start to doubt ourselves, but it always bounces back. All we truly want and luckily we do have, is a fiercely loyal and dedicated fan base. One you can absolutely count on no matter the size.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
We’re Jazz and Jess, twin sisters and hosts of Sis, Let Me Tell You Podcast. We post video podcast episodes every Tuesday. We cover black celebrity gossip/news such as the Nicki and Megan drama, personal stories such as embarrassing moments we’ve experienced and addictive alternating segments such as PSAs and Unpopular Opinions.
We recently started a Patreon where we offer bonus content and we’re very excited about it. We love to hear from our listeners and know what they want us to go over in our episodes. The same goes for our bonus content. If you want us to play a drinking game or host a Q&A we’d be happy to do so. Let us know!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Relationship: Our relationship, being twin sisters, played a huge role in our journey as podcasters. Chemistry on camera and/or audio is so important to the listener. Some hosts have to build a rapport with co-hosts, but ours is innate and it shows.
Commitment/Consistency: We made a detailed plan prior to starting our podcast ‘Sis, Let Me Tell You’ and continue to be consistent with our plan – going on our third year podcasting. We’ve never missed a recording date – yes, we’ve had our struggles – but we deliver for our listeners because it’s a commitment that we’ve made and we think that our listeners appreciate the fact that they know there will be a new episode every Tuesday morning.
Equipment: We made sure to thoroughly research quality, but affordable equipment to get started podcasting. We always knew that we wanted our podcast to sound like we’ve been recording for years, and it does. Doing that simple step before jumping in purchasing equipment saved us money in the long run.
Authenticity is key for any field. If you want to start a new venture, make sure that that venture feels right to you. You want to put your authentic work out for the world to appreciate. There is someone out there specifically looking for what you have to offer.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
It’s nice having a co-host because you don’t have to carry the show all by yourself. You have someone else to bounce ideas off of and assist with the workload. Being sisters, we understand each other well, so we know what each other needs when we need it. Our husbands have also been huge supporters of our podcasting journey. They listen in to each episode and even send us topics to discuss on episodes. A huge thank you to James and Tracy!
