Meet Jen Coker

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jen Coker . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jen , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I feel like it has taken me well into my adulthood to finally feel confident. It’s actually through failures, flaws, and setbacks that have helped to develop my confidence and self-esteem. Life is a learning process and we are continually growing and evolving. I’ve learned to embrace my flaws and anything that makes me different and unique. I also want my daughters to be confident so being that way myself is crucial to paving the path for them.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My focus professionally is to grow my business and brand, which is b5wellness. I’m passionate about helping others create a balanced, healthy lifestyle. The b stands for balance and the 5 is for the 5 pillars that I focus on to achieving that healthy lifestyle: fitness, nutrition, healthy relationships, career/personal growth, and spirituality. The interesting and exciting part is that this can and does look different for everyone. So for me, the challenge is to tap into each individual’s potential and provide them with the right tools to achieve this feeling of harmony, balance, happiness, and health. I don’t want them to just work towards 1 specific timeline or goal; I want them to look at it as a lifestyle. I do plan on expanding this business and getting out more into the community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Failures, because without them we wouldn’t have growth and the learning experiences that come with them. I would also say that discipline and being open-minded/coachable are very important. Nobody is ever motivated day in and day out, but discipline is a learned trait over time and provides us the skills to keep going even when we don’t feel like it. Being open-minded and coachable is how we get better. It’s important to accept feedback from clients, colleagues, peers, family, friends, etc. Even if it’s not what we want to hear, it’s how we grow and get better.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Go for a walk! Walking has been my saving grace. The fresh air, the sounds of nature, and my own thoughts. This is the time I can reflect, set my intentions for the day, pray, be grateful, and focus on my tasks at hand.
