Hi Jen & Jo, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
We discovered our purpose through the joy of helping others. Dot & Daisy is a creative endeavor established to prioritize joy. We are incredibly proud to be a women-owned company and believe that small businesses are the heart and future of a strong community. We want to work with people in making their celebrations (big or small) special and impactful, not matter where you land.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hey there! We’re Jen & Jo, the creative minds behind this mother-daughter, women-owned small business; Dot & Daisy. It’s funny how life surprises you; a few years back, if you had told us we’d be working together, we would’ve laughed! We started our journey with one balloon garland and no intention of starting a small business. However, as we’re both entrepreneurial by nature, all it took was Jen saying “You know, we could make this into something…” And here we are, four years later, continuing to build our brand with so many new offerings. Balloon garlands, Shimmer Wall Rentals and Sleepover Tent Parties are still the “bread and butter” of our business. But, we’ve added some new items by popular demand: The Bubble House (think bounce house, but in a snow-globe form), Modern Marquee Numbers (any color you can think of!), and a larger selection Backdrop Rental Options. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities we’ve found the have the most impact on our success are: resilience, patience and humility. We are willing to try new things, learn, fail, succeed and everything in between. We want to encourage creativity and innovation through a DIY perspective. Let’s create something amazing together!
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The larger event community has truly been a game-changer for us. We’ve had the pleasure of connecting with wonderful small businesses, and the lessons we’ve learned have been priceless. Building this community has become a vital part of our journey, not just for getting answers and discovering new ways of doing things, but also for the camaraderie and support that comes with it. Sharing insights, lending a helping hand, and celebrating successes together are pieces we cherish in our business.
