Meet Jenn Prine

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jenn Prine a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jenn, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence by putting myself out there again and again until the fear dissipated. Fear is perfectly normal. You simply need to do things afraid. It does go away.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a photojournalist and portrait photographer. I work with archetypes to help people present their brand with intention.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I know you asked for three but my major assets are archetypes and networking. I was taught to design intentionally using archetypes. I went to DAAP for Urban Design and then a few years down the road hired to help brand our city. We were attempting to bring it back to life. I was brought in at entry level because I was still very young and only had my education. The organization I was working for was also masters at putting on networking events which taught me how to work a room fluently and to connect people. These things fuel my ability to photograph large events as well as using archetype to help with branding in portrait photography. I create very intentionally on the commercial end of things.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
I recognized how gentrification began to factor into what we were doing. Developers began to take our efforts over after we brought the city back to life. I have had to get honest about my part in this and how I would like to move forward with whom I am helping on the advertising and branding end of things.
