Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jenna Galbo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Jenna , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I have always had a passion for working with children who have different needs compared to the “typical” child. I studied in New York and graduated with a masters degree in early childhood education, along with a concentration in special education. I began my career teaching children with varying exceptionalities in the South Bronx. I quickly realized that more than me teaching them, these children were teaching me. Some of the best lessons I learned were not from other adults, but from the children themselves. These students demonstrated more than one area where they needed additional support and intervention.
As my journey continued, I witnessed the distress, helplessness, frustration and hopelessness felt by many parents and caregivers of these children. This revealed an enormous unmet need for more parent education, coaching and support. That’s when I realized that in order to truly help the “whole child,” I needed to consider not just the child, but the family and community context as well. This led me to find my purpose in ensuring children with different needs and their families receive the comprehensive support they deserve.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Levitated Learning was established in 2022 with a mission to support the “Whole Child.” Our holistic approach considers all aspects of a child’s life, including their family unit, as we firmly believe that the greatest success comes through a “Whole Child…Whole Vision” method.
Beyond working directly with each child, we also coach parents to help meet their needs. Our services include providing both ABA and early intervention therapies tailored to the individual child. We recognize that the process of seeking special education services can feel overwhelming for families. Therefore, we offer consultation to assist parents in better understanding their child’s case so they can become well-informed and effective advocates. By equipping families with knowledge and support, we aim to facilitate improved outcomes for our clients.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
When I look back, three qualities that impacted me the most on my journey were compassion, humility, and faith. Each of these qualities helped me continue to grow and discover my purpose in life.
Compassion allowed me to empathize with others and their struggles, motivating me to make a positive difference. Humility kept me grounded and open to learning, rather than arrogantly thinking I knew it all. And faith provided meaning and hope, especially during difficult times when I needed perseverance.
The development of these qualities is an ongoing process, not one that stops at a certain age. As my journey through life continues, I expect compassion, humility and faith to evolve and manifest in different capacities. The refinement of these virtues is a lifelong endeavor, equipping me to meet new challenges and make the most of each phase of life.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I will pause and take some deep breaths. I’ll remind myself that challenges are opportunities to learn. By reflecting on my purpose, I can regain motivation and clarity. Together, through open and compassionate communication with our families, we can support each other and find creative solutions, making steady progress toward our shared goals.
