Meet Jennica Klemann

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jennica Klemann. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jennica, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I would love to say that it was a mystical epiphany that came to me in a dream and my manifestation unfurled into what it is today…no, it was something that kept showing up in different ways over many years until I recognized it for what it was and I had the experience and timing for it to be realized. That’s not to say I felt prepared or had the confidence for it. I just “knew” that it was a direction I needed to follow and I did!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a Grief Coach in Tucson, Arizona. More specifically, an Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist through the Grief Recovery Institute. I guide grievers through an evidence-based, 7-week process that helps them find completion with the pain attached to a loss…whether it’s a person (alive or deceased) or a significant life event.

Observing the transformation my clients experience in just a few weeks is so incredibly rewarding!
We meet for about an hour a week for seven weeks and each week builds on the next. There is some reading material and action-step exercises that we work on each week to understand what grief is, what they’ve been taught (or what’s been modeled for them in the past), and then we introduce healthier, more productive ways to work through their emotional pain so they are not only able to process their current loss but they will also have the tools needed to work through future losses.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Grief work isn’t for everyone, it’s emotional, it’s vulnerable, and it’s painful. I needed to work on a few of my own significant losses to be able to help others with theirs. When I first started I was afraid of so many things…afraid to let go of my heartache and what it meant and how it would feel on the other side of it. I was afraid I wasn’t enough to hold space for others. I was afraid of the magnitude of responsibility this work would bring to my life.

But like I said in the beginning, it kept showing up in different ways over time. So when I had more experience and took the time to work on myself, it was just the natural progression of my “purpose”. I had spent 25 years helping my clients with physical pain as a Massage Therapist, it seemed to be an impactful segway to nurture emotional pain (which by the way, contributes to physical pain and dysfunction).

If there is someone reading this who feels inclined toward this work or any other type of practice that focuses on helping others overcome their own limits…I would say (at the risk of sounding metaphysical) pay attention to those “signs” that keep showing up on your path, examine what they mean for you, be observant, be introspective, and be brave. Sometimes the best things in life are worth the hard work it takes to achieve them.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I have a couple of options for my services. I have private one-on-one in person (Tucson) or online (anywhere in the US), and I’m going to be starting group sessions online and in person (Tucson). My website will be the best place to find that information. In person one on one or group sessions can be found globally through the Grief Recovery Insitute website.

I would also love to meet other professionals who work in the grief and loss industry, including veterinary specialists and pet care services. I feel that pet grievers are an underserved community and need support too. Personal Trainers, Realtors, Estate Planners, Personal Organizers, and other trades where an individual is experiencing unexpected life or health changes. They can connect with me by email or message me through any of my social platforms!
