We recently connected with Jennifer Wise and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Surrounding myself with creative opportunities helps keep my creativity alive. As an introvert, having some alone time to let my brain just do its thing without interruption is key. Two of my favorite creative outlets are digital scrapbooking and blogging, so I’m lucky that both of those are a part of my work in addition to keeping my creativity going. Because my work entails creating content–for something like an online class or a post in my Facebook group–I always have creative opportunities. Maya Angelou said, “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” I have definitely found this to be true!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I meet so many people who are overwhelmed with so many photos and aren’t sure what the best ways to preserve and share them are. I love what I do because I give people the peace of mind that comes from fireproofing their photos, scrapbooks, old family videos, and such, so that they can ditch the overwhelm and just enjoy convenient access to their memories in one permanent home. Photo experts recommend we preserve our photos in 3 ways: 2 ways digitally (onsite /at home and offsite/in the cloud) as well as in print. I help people learn how in simple ways, and–believe it or not–most of my coaching is free.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Patience, persistence, and reliability have definitely gotten me where I am today.
My journey as a photo solutions and memory-keeping consultant included a pivot about 16 years in, and I felt so good to see that I had developed relationships of trust with so many clients and former clients that they were totally on board with the pivot. Granted, the pivot was from something good to something better, but to have so many people trust in the change I made was really powerful to me.
Patience is also a very important quality in business, particularly a small business like mine. Some people don’t realize the magnitude of what you offer or how it can really help them until they hear about it or see it (on your social media channels or in an email newsletter) repeatedly. Sometimes it just takes time for people to make a connection. In my experience, they often come through in a big way when they are ready.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client knows the importance of photos and memories and wants to do something to preserve them.
In 19 years now as a photo solutions and memory-keeping consultant, I have learned that a lot of people believe the myths that they don’t have time or money to preserve their photos or that they can’t do anything with their photos if they don’t “scrapbook.” My ideal client lets me “bust” all those myths with options that work for THEM. And that even includes a very fun and creative digital scrapbooking option for those who love it, and something much simpler and straightforward for those who don’t! I have solutions for permanent photo & video cloud storage (something you don’t get with the popular options today) as well as solutions for digitizing old memories in outdated media like VHS tapes, slides, film, negatives, etc.
My ideal client is ready for photo solutions, and I’m ready with a variety of solutions to see what fits their specific needs, budget, and preferences! I love providing options and letting people choose what they like!
