We were lucky to catch up with Jerri Reid recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jerri, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Hands down I get my work ethic from my mother. I’ve never in my life seen such a work ethic like hers. I remember as a child going to work with her always pretending to be typing something. Being a single mother of 2 kids she had no choice but to have a great work ethic. She had no backup. She was the backup. She worked her way up to an amazing position and now she sits pretty at home and collects a check! GOALS🙌🏾
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Jerri but I’m known as Snobb Queen. I started off as a fashion blogger which grew my account to over 500k followers. Everything was fine until Instagram changed the algorithm. It really left me with the decision to start a business of my own or continue to post and push for promo. I decided to bet on myself and I started my own Luxury makeup collection, The Snobb Collection.
The Snobb Collection is growing daily. My brand has been featured in BET, Essence, and more. I rebranded and revamped to give the Snobbs a more luxury experience. I’m excited to release my new setting spray “Set The Tone” this September. So many new things are coming.
Outside of my business I am also an social media manager. I am currently about to redesign a restaurant. I’m so excited about that. Friends and family have been pushing me to take interior designing serious for YEARS. I finally get to do something else I love. I’m truly in a happy space.
Other then all of that. I’m a wife to the most handsome man ever in my eyes and a mom of 2 beautiful kids. I also have a doggy soulmate named Journey. My dog is literally like another baby. She’s a miniature Boston Terrier. The cutest.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Whew looking back I made a lot of mistakes, wasted a lot of time, and money. But everything turned out to be a lesson, so no complaints over here. Early on I wish I had the knowledge of business, marketing, and branding. Two skill I wish I had early on would be consistency, and delegating.
My advice would be to really do your research and do it right!! No shortcuts. You can also hire people to do it for you. Focus on your vision and work until you make it your reality.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I’d have to give it to my husband and my mother. My husband taught me to think bigger and to work towards the bigger picture. He put me on to books and podcasts that changed my prospective completely. He’s literally my go to for everything.
Now I get my amazing customer service skills and work ethic from my mother. And to be a successful business owner you NEED those qualities. So for that I thank my mother truly.
