Meet Jessica Browne

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Browne. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jessica, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome has been a significant journey for me, especially during my transition from being an executive chef to becoming a beauty influencer/content creator after losing my job during the pandemic. It was a challenging period where doubts and insecurities often crept in, but I found several strategies that helped me overcome those feelings and embrace my new career path.

One of the things I did to overcome imposter syndrome was to begin speaking affirmations over my newfound career. I consistently reminded myself that I belonged in this space and that my skills and knowledge were valuable. These positive affirmations helped reframe my mindset and boost my confidence, allowing me to tackle imposter syndrome head-on.

Another crucial step was itemizing and celebrating all wins, big and small. Imposter syndrome often makes us overlook our achievements and focus only on perceived shortcomings. By consciously acknowledging and celebrating each milestone, no matter how small, I was able to build a stronger sense of self-worth and recognize my accomplishments.

I also actively sought out opportunities to network with others in my niche. Connecting with like-minded individuals who faced similar challenges and triumphs helped me realize that imposter syndrome was a common experience. Sharing stories, advice, and support with fellow content creators and influencers provided a sense of community and reassurance, reminding me that I was not alone in my journey.

Lastly, I continually practiced and experimented with my craft. By dedicating myself to improving my skills, staying up-to-date with industry trends, and consistently creating content, I gained a deeper sense of expertise. As I honed my abilities and saw concrete progress, imposter syndrome gradually lost its grip on me.

Overall, overcoming imposter syndrome required a combination of positive self-talk, celebrating achievements, building a support network, and actively pursuing growth in my chosen field. While the journey may have had its ups and downs, I’ve come to realize that imposter syndrome is a hurdle that can be conquered with perseverance, self-belief, and a commitment to personal and professional development.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Thank you for the opportunity to share more about what I do and what makes it special. I am Jess (@jess_theplushbeauty), a beauty influencer who embarked on an inspiring journey after losing my job as an executive chef during the pandemic. What I find most exciting and special about my work is the ability to empower individuals to embrace their unique beauty and express themselves through makeup and skincare. Through my brand, I aim to create a space where beauty enthusiasts can find inspiration, learn valuable techniques, and feel confident in their own skin.

One aspect that sets my brand apart is the emphasis on inclusivity and diversity. I believe that beauty knows no boundaries and should be celebrated in all its forms. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When reflecting on my journey, I believe there were three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that had the most significant impact on my success. These are networking and collaborating with other creators/brands, experimenting with different content styles, and pitching myself to brands.

Firstly, networking and collaborating with other creators and brands opened up valuable opportunities for growth and exposure. My advice for those starting their journey is to actively seek out like-minded individuals and communities. Joining relevant groups, attending events, and engaging on the social media profiles of others in your niche can help build connections and create a supportive network. Collaborations not only expand your reach but also provide opportunities to learn from others and share insights. Building genuine relationships with fellow creators can lead to fruitful collaborations and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Secondly, experimenting with different content styles is crucial for personal and professional growth. Early in your journey, it’s essential to explore various approaches, techniques, and formats to find your unique voice and style.

Lastly, pitching yourself to brands is an important skill to master. Researching brands thoroughly and ensuring they align with your brand’s mission is essential before reaching out. Take the time to understand their target audience, values, and aesthetics to tailor your pitch effectively.

To best develop and improve these qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge, my advice is to never stop learning. Attend workshops, webinars, and industry conferences to expand your knowledge and stay updated with the latest trends and best practices.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, I am absolutely open to partnering and collaborating with like-minded individuals and brands! If you are reading this and share a passion for the beauty niche, particularly in the areas of acne-prone skincare, colorful and fun cosmetics, or natural hair care, I would love to connect with you.

For brands in the beauty industry that align with these specific areas, I am interested in exploring potential collaborations that showcase innovative products and solutions for individuals with acne-prone skin, vibrant and playful cosmetics, or natural hair care. I am dedicated to providing my audience with authentic recommendations and valuable insights in these areas. If your brand shares a similar mission and values, I would be excited to discuss potential partnership opportunities. You can email me at [email protected] with all business inquiries.

I am also eager to collaborate with other creators who share the same niche. Connecting with fellow beauty influencers and content creators allows us to support and learn from one another. Whether it’s through joint projects, guest appearances, or cross-promotions, collaborating with other creators fosters a sense of community and enables us to create even more impactful and engaging content for our audiences.

In addition to the beauty niche, I am open to collaborating with food niche brands for my food page @aphrocentriceats. With my background as an executive chef, I bring a unique perspective and expertise in the culinary world. I am particularly interested in partnering with smaller food bloggers and brands that appreciate the value of diverse culinary experiences, unique flavors, and creative approaches to cooking. Together, we can create inspiring content, share delicious recipes, and explore the intersection of beauty and gastronomy.

If you are interested in partnering or collaborating with me, I invite you to reach out to me directly. You can connect with me through my website, [https://jesstheplushbeauty.com/portfolio/], email me at [email protected] or through my social media channels. I am active on @jess_theplushbeauty, and I encourage you to send me a message or email to start a conversation.

I am excited about the possibility of working together with brands and creators who share my passion and vision.
