Meet Jessica Evans

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Evans. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Jessica , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
This is a great question and would love to answer it! I get my resilience from the cards that were dealt me. Though not easy at all God has and is working in my story. As a little girl I dealt with pain and at 16 my dad passed away to brain cancer. After his passing a host of family members followed him who are now my guardian angels watching over me. Their legacies are the reason I work hard and push myself to be my best self as a songwriter, musician, music artist, entrepreneur and educator and youth advocate.

While some people write people off or may not understand loss or deep pain or what it takes to really heal, when my dad passed I said” I want to change the narrative, I don’t want to be a statistic”. That has stuck with me. That pain and loss is what I had to go through even when I don’t understand but it doesn’t define who I am.

I also believe I didn’t have a choice but to be resilient and let it shine through. So, my resilience comes from the fight my dad fought with brain cancer, and the fight my grandma fought with ovarian cancer, my deep pain as a little girl, the numerous losses in my family, and because this is where it comes from I had no choice but to write my song” Titanium” Produced by Gabe Pigee and become CEO and owner of my own business and brand LIVE and leave the rest as is.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As a native of Pasadena CA, I grew up knowing I had the It factor and had something in me that inspires and helps people. As my journey has not always been easy thankful that God has not taken his hand off my story. Pain pushed me to my purpose. I am a Music artist with songs on all digital platforms “ Titanium” produced by Gabe Pigee and Cali Girl by Help Society Nola and John Eric Hetherington.

Growing up I also had a bad stutter and stammer wasn’t able to say my name so I got bullied. I have been featured in STAMMA a stuttering and stammering organization to bring awareness to stuttering and stammering. This organization is based out of the UK so it’s pretty cool that my story and voice is reaching internationally. Then had a feature in Beautiful News in South Africa and Shout OUT LA. It amazes me how many people are getting inspired by my story.

What I feel most excited about is that I have a chance and opportunity to encourage others who may have a similar story as mine to push past their limits with my brand LIVE and the Limitless Tee! I am also excited about some new things coming to my brand and business LIVE and the works of new music!

What is special to me is that no matter what my stage is whether it be in the classroom with my students they are getting inspired and encouraged by my story to push past their limits, whether it be creating or writing music people are getting encouraged and inspired by the lyrics, and whether it be with my brand and business LIVE, people are getting inspired to live their best lives and reminded to NEVER MUTE THEIR VOICES BECAUSE IT MATTERS by wearing their LIMITLESS TEE!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on my Journey, the three qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that were the most impactful are being able to deal with constructive criticism and no’s, being disciplined, and one that I live by to this day, and this bit of knowledge came from my PAPA Who is watching me from up above and that is “ If you stay ready you don’t have to get ready”. Some advice I would give to folks who are early in their journey is trust your process. Don’t rush your healing. Study your craft. Make sure before you present anything make sure it is a well representation of you and what you can do and highlights your strengths. Don’t be afraid of failure it’s only delayed success! No matter what cards you are dealt you are made to LIVE a purposeful life!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
There is no specific person but a team of people who I call my village who have and help me overcome challenges and build and develop the skills, qualities and knowledge I need to be successful! I am thankful for them and don’t know what I would do without them! I love them so much!
